Be careful not to underestimate the design weight and individual axle weights of your kit car because if the weight turns out to be more than you put down on the IVA1 form then your car will fail.

 

Don’t overestimate the weight either as this calculation will affect other aspects of IVA such as braking efficiency etc. Get it as close as you can (but not under)

 

Your first port of call should be the manufacturer of the kit car who should have this information to hand. If you have access to a weighbridge then even better.

 

The design weight over the front axle must be more than 30% of the overall gross weight of the vehicle.

 

The overall gross design weight should not exceed 3500kg
