Seats need to be fixed to obvious load bearing parts of the vehicle structure such as the chassis to provide adequate strength.
If no chassis members are available, such as fibreglass monocoque constructed kit cars, the seats can be fixed directly to a fibreglass floor as long as the floor provides sufficient strength and spreader plates are used to spread the load.
