What do you do when you find a few hours spare ?
Well Mike and I have been working 60 hour weeks , 6 days a week and I have been doing Sunday mornings where necessary as well .....but I found a few hours this week to get the Chevaux frame done...
If you go on my website you will see it listed as a Sportiva 600 - we had a casual arrangement with a 2cv specialist , we supply bodies , he supplied the framework...it hasn't really happened ....He has marketed the car as his own , only giving up the origins when challenged by people who recognise the car and as a result , I think , people have enquired direct to us...
I think also , the £2495 price tag for a kit just a bit more complex than our Spyder £1265 example hasn't helped his cause..!!
Anyway , we have had a positive order from a French guy ...so we are in production !!
I have not copied the Sportiva frame , I have created my own so as not to upset anyone- the frame shown is the only one we can supply..
Here's the frame in development - production examples will be identical except slightly better pedal bracketry ( I used Spyder brackets and will have better laser examples cut ) and will be supplied in red oxide as before.....the frame is designed to accept an 18mm flat ply floor , no tunnel , so bench seat is an option !
KIT CONSISTS OF
Frame as above
Complete bodyshell WITH STRETCHED BONNET
flat sheet of fibreglass to create bulkhead.
Sammio screen
Grille
TOTAL £1495........( Can be delivered to Cherbourg for ferry ticket price only - usually £100 - as I can take the kids for a Boat ride !! )
We are ready to go on these ...frame is being used to create a jig before it goes...SAME LEAD TIMES APPLY ( 4 Weeks )
THIS IS ANOTHER UNMODIFIED CHASSIS OPTION - SVA EXEMPT
THANK YOU.
Footnote :
I know the 2cv isn't everyones idea of a donor car - but they are incredibly popular in Mainland Europe as well as an active following here...There is a place in the Industry for another option for them - I would rather this thread didn't turn into a ' I hate Citroens thread '...
