Chris is having fun with his "KOBRA" right now. Once he gets the splash mold off the SWB buck things will be moving quickly.
Have you notice how close the design of the DBZ and SWB aft of the door is?

Rear car profiles
Its a very sensible move, there have been few car profiles that stood the test of time and been iconic, Countach, etc. most cars from the 50-60's the shape is based and flows but how many can tell a mazer from an alfa racer, s fiat coupe from a ferrari. The styling flows and is influanced, but using often the same styling houses and people they have one design that 'worked' and then used this to influence others. so would I mind, far from it , I dont want a replica, I want something that is mine and fun to my mind, and pleaseing to my eye, something I have not seen in a car for a number of years. there are shapes and profiles that stand the test of time and others that date so fast (sierra) etc.
To come up with something that looks right takes skill time and effort, and costs money and as such I believe they are doing a great thing on budgets that are most likely crazy- I hope the sales do well for them!

went to see chris and the kit last week. missed chris but the builds going well and brought along some alternative headlight covers that could be tweaked to fit. hopefully they do the job as I've bin trying to find a cover with enough curve to give the 3D look from the side. ordered some cans of spray to see if the colours I like will work. vw pure grey and morris minor maroon b.

I was thinking if I go for maroon b I could go for a grey spot on the doors and boot or vice versa. possible mirror combo too.

Hi Joe. Grey and maroon are a good period crossover to concept choice, I would be carefully now to go overboard with colour on wheels, but then I would probably get them rough bead blasted and matt clear coated. Each to their own

I've got a while till choice of paint is required but like to start early so know who can do the paint for best price. Plus looking at some classic mini projects have two tone wheels with chrome colour spokes and body coloured dish.

hope the headlight covers aren't giving Chris a headache. but they will help with the symmetry on the front and hope to work with angled wing look that the zag had. its had a few tweaks but the outline is taking shape and works well with the mx5's sleek lines

The SWB rear end is now done (see Geoff's tread) and the mould is re-gelled for another pull for your car, See you on the 4th.

Modified SWB rear end now added:
Joe's constant research has turned up some Alfa headlight covers that once trimmed fit very well on the front wing shape we had already formed:
Taller wheel tyre combo and lowering will transform the car:

I was semi sceptical about this because usually i find the modern screen throws everything else out of proportion but that is looking fantastic!
Looking forward to seeing more of this.

I used to have a VW Passat estate, but not sure how long the front was. It could have been a yard.
