Default UK BUDGET - Fuel Duty and Road Tax

Fuel Duty has been frozen until September 2006

VED (Road Tax) has been re-jigged, with the least polluting cars paying £0, (yep, zilch) and the most polluting (top 1%) paying £210 per year. No details on the intermediate bands as yet, but Uncle Gordon stated that there will be more bands than now.

I wonder if that will effect pre CO2 rated cars much.

EDIT: 225g/Km is the top high band limit - according to the VCA database says my daily driver is 213 g/km which is under, need to check my V11 to confirm though.

You can look up you car here: http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/ved/

Oops.

Bought a Chrysler Crossfire a few months back.
Just looked up the rating on that site - 240g/km

A bit surprised.
Although it's 3.2l, it's averaging 35mpg at the moment, it's a Merc engine (& the Germans have been at the forefront of going green) & now the tax will be top whack!

Nah, I think you'll just pay top wack on the F-Band. The G-Band only comes into effect for cars registered as of today.
