We are thinking about using a Lancia style bonnet in its modified format as an option on the Cordite....it will need a little blister or scoop to deal with the front carb on the Spit based ones in the same way as the Spit engined Spyder does ...but the GT6 , stromberg version will clear ok...
I have done a Spit based car before with the German bonnet but I can't remember how I got it all to fit !!

of course! I momentarily forgot that the front of the chassis is considerably different...

i wasn't "dis'ing" my brethern but stating that my preference is to the longer bonnet.
I know you say that size isn;t important but in this case the longer lines of the bonnet adds to the sleeker - faster looking car.

Andy has very definite ideas about how he wants the car to look ....Although he lives in Wales , he is originally from Norwich way , as is Phil9 , Andy asked for a scoop like Phils , Mike has done this.....
These scoops must be now known as NORFOLK SCOOPS....
We also managed to get the interior fitted ....dropped floors ( slightly modified as I made the frame before we had dropped pans ) , wooden sides and rear bulkhead and our new steel tunnels ( £60 each and supplied over length to be cut down )
Rear light holes and pods have been grafted on also....
The above picture shows the shorter tail quite well.....Obviously still a Sammio yet a bit different....

Just wondering if there's a progress report on this cracking looking one-off special build? Would love to see the finished car...

TOWED , UNFORTUNATELY THATS NOT THE CAR IN QUESTION !
If things are ''going legal'' its important to keep the facts straight....
I am not intending on commenting on this matter but here is a brief summary , for some background...
Car pictured not deemed good enough ...I agreed on some points but not all of them. Customer had paid up front ( severely discounted to less than a basic Cordite kit and I included fitting - don't ask , I can be a twat sometimes !! ) , so I agreed to do another body.
I sold this body package off at an extreme loss and started again.
As a sweetner for a wasted transport trip and to get rid of the customer several hours after going over and over the same ground , I agreed to double gel and double layup a body , introduce doors , hang them and a few other bits... this now took the price of the package way , way above monies paid...
Debuted car at Stoneleigh as the Cordite promo , customer viewed car , commented on sill alignment and a few points but generally said very happy , not just to me and Mike but went to the trouble of telling other stall holders how fantastic it was and how incredible the finished item would be .....
Fast forward a couple of days ,I get a text saying that after looking at previous pics and talking to wife , car looked like a blow up doll and was crap ....wanted Spyder style bonnet now....
I started to get niggled but generally kept my cool....
We finally agreed on keeping the ugly blow up doll front end and continuing with the build ......fast forward a few weeks and lots of calls , texts , messages , some abusive , some hostile etc. and the day arrives when the car is to be collected.... I had to take Barry Mays car to the trimmers and in my absence the customer arrives and goes nuts .....bonnet scoop and other bits and bobs not to his liking ......some of this I agree with , some I don't ....couple of phone calls and lots of wearing down and I lose my rag - fact.
I became very abusive and totally lost it....not defending that , possibly over reacted but was being poked and poked for a reaction ....several months of long calls , messages , nice guy phone calls followed by nasty guy texts etc....it wears you down.
Car was taken , abusive note left for me to read , phone call the next day from our friend outlining some more points - some justified , some not...after a really strange conversation about Roger Powell from Trading Standards inspecting the car and being there , and then he wasn't when I asked to speak to him and then Roger Powell not actually existing !! , An agreement was reached to supply some missing parts and draw a line under it....text received saying parts not arrived yet , reply stating it was being dealt with and then a forum bashing.....
The above is a summary , it is far more involved than this but just an outline....not looking for comment , would rather you didn't comment actually , just voicing the other side of the coin....I make mistakes , Mike makes mistakes , I forget things , I am human....I do try and rectify and I believe very strongly in my old product and its ethos ....some clearly don't get it , thats fine ....and some people will always want more than you offer no matter how generous the initial offer....

Welcome to the fold Andy. I'm sure there's room on here for the odd pro' amongst us amateurs. Looks like selling Sammio's could be a nice little addition to your business empire. Good luck!

Andy .....you got here in the end then ?
Welcome aboard ....
In answer to your question , Andyp , I think any level required really ....Andy is keen to act as an agent in Wales and I am sure between the two of us we can accomadate most requests !
I am taking delivery of a rolling chassis next week from Andy , no engine but overhauled suspension etc....its the beginnings of my car / new demonstrator etc...so I will start a new thread when it arrives , don't want to hijack this thread too much !

Welcome Andy. Looking forward to seeing the 'Special' in paint.
I've taken the liberty of putting you 'on the map'. You are the Cars & Classics based in Taffs Well aren't you?
Matter of interest, what stage are you supplying donors at? As bought or Stripped or Stripped and restored?

=chap68 Hi thanks for a nice welcome, yes looking forward to getting my sammio special in paint still playing with colour options at the mo? yes thats me in taffs well so thanks for that!! im hoping to supply at all levels from bear chassis to fully built turn key cars! but with gary having a imput of build to, he has developed a fab creation with the sammio, true old school rod builder keep it simple but very effective to say the least!! when i collect my car im leaving him with a 1970 vitesse rotorflex chassis 2.0 six banger!! to become a sammio for sale, will give someone a chance to buy with there own imput without getting dirty!! cheers.
