Fezzer 250 "H" Gate Plate Resonance
Have fitted my home made Stainless Gear shift plate this week, bedded on foam and screwed down tightly into wooden box.
Hoping this would insulate against rattle, resonance and transmission noise....... I have all 3 !!!!!
I now see why most 250 swb builds have a nice insulating rubber gaiter .
Has anyone tried and come up with a cure ?
It seems that the gear lever will at some time, in some of the gears, (because of the throw and extended length) ; touch the plate causing the above. Grrrrr.
I have thought of using a sleeve like heat shrink around the lever where it passes through the gate, butthat would soon wear off with contact.

Perhaps because it looks so good that you can put up with it?
Maybe use some of those small clear silicon stick on feet like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BT5GM...&pd_rd_w=9AKRU

Enlarge the "gates" slightly.

Your probably right WCA.
Molleur. Thanks; I had already enlarged the slots as much as i dare , leaving the 2 centre "guides" only 3mm wide. (not sure if it show in the attached pic).

Yes it probably will stay for the look alone. Just don't want potential new owner thinking......hmmm gearbox bearings noisy.
Mind you; Its definitely a Racecar sound !!! Lol

Will shortening the length of the lever help?

Hmm , Think the length is visually right. Don't really want to shorten it.
I have already fitted a short throw/quick shift to lessen the "throw"
Thinking about machining off couple of mm from lever, where it comes through plate.

It really looks the part. Should a few mm be shaved off of the lever, do it full length so as not to leave a "shoulder".
Of course, don't go too far and weaken the lever.

How about a clear silicone tube fitted over the gear lever or even some black heat shrink tubing just on the section where it meets the gate?
