They are sold for cobra replicas so there should be various suppliers about.

I paid £14.99 for a set of 4 hinges off eBay.
I've just checked the sellers shop but unfortunately he seems to have stopped listing things around July '08.

Did anyone ever find another source of the hinges?

Decided to (attempt at least) make my own hinges.

The next question is - what is the difference between Perspex and Polycarbonate? I noticed that polycarbonate seems to be used for wind wings nowadays - is it an improvement over good old fashioned perspex?

Someone make an old git happy and tell me what the difference is please :-)

Cheers

Robin

Well according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspex
I hope that makes you wiser, it didn't for me!

BTW I used Perspex for sliding windows in my Spartan Treka many years ago. They lasted 12 years before the car went to the great scrapyard in the sky.

According to this supplier...

http://www.casupply.co.uk/acatalog/solidsheets.html

Perspex (acrlyic) is 10 times the impact strength of glass and Polycarbonate is 200 times glass.
I bought some polycarbonate sheet to make my wings but like a lot of things these days, I haven't got round to cutting and fitting it!

Reviving this rather old thread...............

I've had the hinges and sheets of polycarbonate in my box of bits since 2009 so decided it may be time to have a go at fitting them.

Any more feedback or recommendations from those of you who have now fitted them yourselves or have them fitted to your cars.

My mirrors get in the way a bit as their mounted close to the bodywork, but I ain't going to be moving or changing them just for the wind flaps so will have to workaround the best I can do.

Any advice on the best angle for deflection of the wind?

...peter
