Well I'm now in Exeter, Mike is working his arse off to get the G46 as ready as possible for the morning. I'm sure that he will be far to busy to read this tonight but I have to say a massive thanks for the effort he has put in on this car, it's been an epic and I'm very pleased with the results that he has achieved! Anybody not intending to do their own prep and paint could do much worse than getting in touch with Mike.

Its absolutely bloody freezing out there!!!

Can anyone who is already in Exeter please have the kettle on, and i expect that even despite the comedy facial hair, flying jacket and gloves, I'm likely to be frozen by the time I get there!

Although I'm still planning on taking the long way back to enjoy myself

Exeter was excellent. The two Tribute cars are really lovely in the flesh and were getting a lot of attention, not least from us lot

There were a lot of other nice cars in the quite small hall and it seemed to be more manufacturer's than tat-shops, which was really good to see!

Outside I don't think there were as many kit car visitors as last year? But Sammio were at least represented by me and I got a lot of very nice comments about the car.

The other major biggie was that there was a painted and stickered-up G46 in the car park!
BIG respect to Gaz and Mike for achieving that and there were a lot of people milling around it from the time it turned up, so fingers crossed for Gaz that he'll be getting a few more sales out of this .

Finally the highlight for me was on the M5 on the way back when a Jag XJS passed me and I got a big "belissimo" style kiss blown at me from the very classy lady driving it

It was good to see the first G-46 in paint. I think it looks awesome and well worth the wait.

That looks really good, like a Le Mans racer. (Is it painted in Sammio racing pink ;-)

And Gaz, have you lost even more hair???

It was good to see a few forumites at the show today, many thanks for all of your kind comments on the G46. It's taken on a different look again now it's been painted and somehow looks smaller than it did before?

Baz, I did get my hair cut very short although getting a G46 in paint has no doubt taken its toll on my follicles, fu@k you very much!

I have printed the above out in full colour and pinned it up on the garage wall already! The G-46 lives, so when will be growl?
Super job on the rear end.

What size headlights are they?

I was thinking of frenching my rear lights, nice to see what it looks like before I try.

Headlights are 7". I wasnt sure how the rear lights would look when I asked for them to be like that but I think that it works quite well.

Hi Gaz. The G46 does look stunning. Mike's done you proud on the finish by the looks of it. Is it staying down there for further work or coming up with you on your return?

I like that rear light look and may 'borrow' it for the Cordite demonstrator

Agree with above comments, some really nice touches on the car - I love the side vents, the faired in headlights and the streamliner look to the leading edges of the front wings.

And sorry about the 'pink panzer' snipes about the colour earlier, it was obviously the lighting in the workshop that made it look faded. The colour's a classic shade.

Well done and keep up the good work.

Blimey, it looks like a rethink is required on using the 5 1/2" headlights from the donor.
Great to see you got the headlight covers sorted, any chance of some close up of the cover fixings?

Gaz will we get the compulsory shot with no1 owner in the drivers seat ?
(So you can update the sammio website with G46 pictures)

Default "In the Pink"

Gaz

I second all the above comments, surely that's not the same car as Gary was building? shame he did not get it into paint.

Had I have seen the car in paint I doubt if I would have made as many changes to ours, it really, really works in the pink (red to my eyes).

Truly given inspiration to see how good the car looks, did you get it off the trailor at Exeter, love to see a picture of it on the ground.

Now where can we get headlight covers and a boot lid from, they never came with my package from Gary and I am a little confused to who is actually making the G46 now?

Exeter was far to far to go to a show is it possible to see the car in the flesh at some time or will it be sown off again soon?

Excellent job

Ab-so-lu-tely bloody fantastic !

Can't believe it's been a year since I went to Exeter on a whim to have a look at the Sammio's in the flesh, I'll admit I had some difficulties in seeing where the G-46 was headed back then, but boy, does this thing look right in paint or what!!

Congratulations to all involved in persevering and getting the car to this point from the (now clearly apparent) brilliant initial concept!

Baz from Brussels

+1 with all the above comments, its a really awesome looking machine. A credit to all those that made it happen, from its conception to getting a beautiful finish on it. Can't wait to see it for real, preferably going round the track. Goodwood would do.......

First saw recessed rear lights in a custom car mag in the 70s. I am saving yoghurt pots of a suitable size to mould the recesses to fit standard lucas lamps. I already have an old triumph vitesse numberplate/reversing lamp used on triumphs, rovers and astons and overall would like the rear to look something like this
