Sammio Badge
Guys (Why no Gals? I know some very good lady engineers.. )
It has been mentioned a few times, and I think the time is right to harness those with an artistic streak in them. I would like to standardise on one thing across the Sammio brand, and that is a badge we can display on the car, whether it be on the bonnet, grille, boot or wherever it 'fits'.
I'm no artist, so here is my 'Starter for Ten' that has a couple of points for thought:
I like the idea of a Stylised 'S', the 'wings' and some background shape to hold it together if we were to find a way of casting it. Other than that, and a wish to keep a 50's feel to it, you can work with a blank canvas.
Looking forward to this one

THE LADY ENGINEERS OR THE BADGE ?
Andy , you know I have dabbled in this area before , all production cars have badges , so its a relevant accessory in my opinion.
The winged idea is 30's -50's , the downside is lots of manufacturers have used it !
You could just use the Rocketscript style lettering to create a boot badge , probably best for the model names , Spyder , Cordite etc.
I rather like my 'stylized S ' that I created ....The shape of the S relating to Sam when he was a baby ( can you see what it is yet !! ) in a simple oval surround or similar ....going with the less is more train of thought..
Apologies for my amateur paintshop effort below ....

I like it too, and have played with similar logos, but wouldn't quite work for the Cordite or eventually the G46.

AndyP57 - Great idea, although I can't add much creatively, so here are a few thoughts...

I always liked the idea of getting Cordite in the same style as this Spitfire badge.
I think the logo below might look better if the top half was red on both sides of the "hump".
Mind you, I think if you kept just the Oval and filled it with Sammio that would also work.
Keeping it simple has worked pretty well for Ford.
Finally...

I'm not convinced sales would improve if you changed the name to SPERMMIO!

Housemartins design is great.
Andy - You could do 'specials' like the Red Label Bentleys. I just tried colouring it with blue and green on the white bits and got an French Special and without the blue it is the Italian special.

Thanks Andy ....that was going down a whole different path to the one I intended !!
Yes Nappy pin , Sammio was born about the same time as Sam....
Paul L ....There is almost enough letters in Spitfire to cut that badge and 'anagram' it into Spyder...
Like the suggestion of a headrest in Housemartins too....clever

Gaz, Liking the simplified shape for wings and shield centre. It has a few advantages in production too in that if vinyl (Cheapest option) it can be cut to outline and show no background colour and if 3D printed (Dying to find a use for this technology as it really brings 50's styling in touch with the most modern methods) it can hold together as a single shape with internal contours.
the font is called rocket Script and is this something like what you were thinking?

Andy, thats just what I was thinking. Would look great pressed into the headrest material too, although that may look a little too modern.
Another option could be to replace the Sammio script with the model, so the large S for sammio with Spyder or cordite above it?

If its kept simple I have a contact that can laser or water jet cut stainless just a thought...
If its vinyl I'm more than happy to knock some up as I have a vinyl cutter in the workshop again though simple is better as too many colours becomes a pain to layer accurately.
Whilst were on the subject what about a matching Sammio vin plate?

Having handled copywrite, passing-off and infringement disputes, the final choice may need a little research...
