Very nice Robin, I like your switch gear mounting, very clean!
Richard didnt get the hoses before xmas and on inspection one of the trailing arms was defect so he's waiting for a new one. We have a rear left trailing (near side) spare with a damaged U joint (going for free if you still need one)

Thanks Patrick - but I think I can manage without "doing a trial" now. I have looked at the spring plates closely and they just seem to be spot welded to an area of the trailing arm that is flat. It should be relatively straightforward (lol) to remove the existing plates and fit my new ones about 1/2" offset.
Cheers
Robin
PS going to look at a 318ti this w/e in Reading 33k miles and fitted with the lux pack - only problem is it's green...

No problem Green, you could always wear those yellow safety glasses and it would appear to be a different colour
Did you get anywhere with looking at having adapters made for the brake master cylinder/server pin? I'm about at a point were I'll be bolting that up for (hopefully) the final time.

No - sorry haven't got any further. My brakes aren't quite finished yet and I was going to wait and see what he pedal felt like one the system was filled.

servo
Have just finished the brakes. As I needed an extra 8mm, I filed the edges of an m8 nut, and popped it in, where it it snug and acts lije an extension. It has worked perfectly, without welding it so I may leave it as it is.

Robin, I've tried this:
Seems ok from a dry run without fluid or servo. Full test will have to wait until I've put fluid back in the system. Going to need to glue this in place some how, probably with silicone sealer. Given the shroud (?) is so big on the BMW master cylinder I can see this ever falling out, but it could reposition depending on the speed at white the piston retracts when you lift your foot off the brake.

Update
Finally got round to sorting out the problem with the rear spring plates being in the wrong position. I moved the plates on the trailing arms to match up! It actually turned out to be much easier thatn I expected.

Pictures of propshaft from DaveMac (£145!), reinforcing of bulkhead top (boring but essential) final fitment of fuel tank plus some other stuff.
Fitting the reinforcing tube was a PITA because I had to relocate some components I had already mounted, leaving me with a few spare holes :-(
I decided that it would be very difficult to seal around the fusebox and so I decided to drop it into the top of the passenger footwell and provide access via a plate over the hole where I originally intended to mount it. Need to make a small shelf for it to sit on.

Looks like some good progress, Robin.
Your propshaft looks very nice.
My bulkhead top is not flat, so the scuttle closing plates only touch at each end. Does your extra tubing pull it up flat?
cheers

The extra tube pulls up the bulkhead so that it is flat for most of the way. I just had to use a thick washer in one place to pack it out. Considering I had a 1/4" (6mm) gape before its a great improvement. Gives more confidence with the brakes to - in that you can stand on the pedal and the bulkhead no longer moves!

Looks nice Robin, I had lots of fun lining the tub up on the passenger side, it stuck out a bit need lots of spacing and padding to get it to line up nicely with both the door and the chassis.
