Part finished Sammio Spyder for sale on e-bay
It's not mine and i know nothing about it other than i stumbled across it after reading Trev's e-bay advert

There are some interesting mods about which i'm sure a few of you will have a few things to say (side exit exhausts anyone?)

aside from the body and dubious exhaust and flared front arches the guy has spent a small fortune on recon bits etc
is it me or does it sit rather high at the front

Yep, seen this one and saved it in the old watch list.
Not too sure about the engine being moved back though, do you change gear with your armpit?
It also says that the body sits lower than normal, I kinda think that might make the seat choice rather hard without radically lowered floors.
Could be a bargain for someone though, it has had a lot of money spent on it according to the ad.

Just taken a look at the pics again. It really has had a lot of cash spent on it already.
The front does look a bit high, but that could easily be addressed by chopping down the front springs and I'd want to ditch the widened, German bonnet for a standard Italian. Other than that, and the Cobra side pipe and horrible black wheels of course, there ain't much wrong with it.

I wonder if this will need full testing as it was previously another kit car and that does not look like the original bulk head? Would be interesting to know...

That shouldn't make any difference, the requirement is for an unmodified chassis, the bulkhead can be chopped and changed without the need for iva. Thankfully.

I think that may be car number 2....its a very early effort.
We were still tweaking the front panels and one wing was a bit wonky ....that might be why she has flared arches , although it looks like he is going the Cobra-esque route , so maybe not....
I know of two people watching it with a view to us finishing her , so hopefully more news soon !!
Lack of bulkhead is irrelevant to registering her .....we use the bulkhead because its there , not out of necessity.
The car has been built on a Spartan chassis ....we have a customer with a Spartan and his engine is set back 5'' ...the mounts are moved to the back of the suspension upright.
What will affect registration , maybe , is the lack of boot outriggers ....a prospective buyer will need to tack , not fully weld , a pair back on !

just had a call from Barry , a customer , to say he has bought her and is collecting her next week.....its coming to us on Friday to start the completion process and a makeover !
I will post pics as and when....
Whats interesting is , there has been 3 sammios on ebay at the same time ....Trevors , a green one being sold for a customer and this part built ......They have all sold fairly easily...

Well , as agreed , the car arrived this morning ....
Barry , the new owner has asked us to finish the car...we are going to make some changes.
The car is number 2.....I hadn't realised just how much we had changed the body in such a short period of time , but it bears little resemblance to our later bodies...
We are going to put a Lancia style bonnet on the car , that is something Barry has asked for....
I have been given a free pass to build the car pretty much how we want , obviously checking with Barry first ! but it gives me the chance to indulge some ideas I have lurking....hopefully.
Barry has final say on the colour and is looking for alternatives to red and green !!
I will start a new thread for the car on Sunday , adding some pictures and text as we progress through the build.

If red and green are no no's, then it's gotta be silver, black or Ecosse blue imho.
