Default Patton's DVLA Inspection.

Pat from Collumpton brought his half built project down today to get it inspected for the name change.

I had booked it in on Monday for a lunchtime appointment today and accompanied Pat down there to oversee the whole process.....

The car's can be inspected as soon as the bodies are in place and secured , no bonnets , screen etc...

Everything went very smoothly , no hiccups , Pat should get his revised V5c Document back in about 6 weeks...

Pat overseeing his Inspection.....He looks quite shocked as , being a West Country lad , he thinks the camera has just stolen his soul !!!

Stuart the Inspector rushing to a phone to order a Sammio Spyder !!

Hi, no it doesn't need to run he just looked at the numbers on the chassis and engine checked agianst the V5c and looked to make sure that the body was still bolt on/off and was unmodified, I didn't even take the bonnet as my ebay trailer required some mods. Are soul, I hope it comes back with my V5c no longer "a grey triumph herald saloon" but "a yellow sammio spyder sports" worth the trip to pool very painless a 15 minute form filling job by a very nice, a very very nice man, Stuart (Stewart). And a very big thank you to Gary for arranging it (and Mike for the entertainment with plod checking his van over)..Pat

Default 6 weeks

Hi all, I've got to wait 6 weeks for the amended V5c, If all goes well I'm going to be waiting for it to tax my car, so in hind sight and seeing whats wanted when visiting VOSA as soon as the body goes on get it inspected. I didn't have any interior bulkheads in no bonnet fitted, so here's to being on the road in September.PAT

Default dvla

can anything go wrong, mine is still registered as a spitfire, but I dread them saying it needs an SVI wich would efectivly put it of the road!

wharfedale - First things first, this is an old thread and the inspection you see featured here is NOT the standard way of doing things anymore.

Read this thread instead:
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...ead.php?t=5192

The fact you bought an unfinished project may be a slight problem if it didn't come with the original invoice for the body shell from Sammio.

However, my suggestion would be to write to the DVLA (use the address on the other thread).
- Explain that you are the new owner and would like to rename your Spitfire.
- Enclose a photo of how the car looked on the trailer when you got it.
- Enclose a photo of how the car looks now.
- Enclose your signed V5C (take a copy of it first).
- Write the new name you want next to the Make line. (e.g. Sammio Spyder, Triumph Special, etc.)
- Ask the DVLA to let you know what else they want you to send in to complete the process.

Good luck, Paul.
