I would be inclined to cover the join with woven roving tape joining the two elements together
The only way to eliminate movement especially as the body will flex on track days

I think you will find a coupe weighs more than a standard Z3 with its roll cage and extra body .
I would guess that all other models weigh about the same as the original car.
