Suspension
I am going with AVO coilovers on my car.
I need to find the following info
Front & Rear Coilovers
Open Length
Closed Length
Maybe a GAZ part number so i can compare
Front & Rear Srings
Diameter
Length
Weight of Springs
Thanks everyone and sorry for bombarding the forum with random posts and questions!

From memory the rears a 10 inch 2.25 inch id 400 pounds.
Fronts were same size, but originally 170 pounds which were to soft, in line other builders reccoemedations which seems fine I now have 225 pounds.

Not sure what the rears are as there is no marks on them. But I upgraded the fronts to 225. But found on an airfield day, the front wheels scrapped the front clam shell so too soft. But ok for road use.
What They need upgrading to I don't know. But wil be going to track developments once car is on the road to get a full assessment done. Saves second guessing spring rates.

Mine are 300lb front and 450lb rear!
Will probably upgrade front to 325/350 at some point

I'm on 300 / 350, but I have different movement ratios.

Before you invest in shocks, do some quick reading of suspension text books, and take some measurements.... it's quite revealing.
You might find you'll need different lengths shocks once you've made some mods to make the suspension geometry comform to "text book" good practice.
Pro-tech shocks are worth a look, as they are basically a rip-off of AVO shocks (the same guy that designed them, I understand worked for AVO previously), at a lower price.

Does anyone have a GAZ part number for their shocks, or have you got an open length for the shocks?

Not sure of the part number or size. But have a bent one from the accident. I'll straighten that one out and see what length it is.

Eye to eye fully extended = 405mm
Damper stroke = 130mm
That is the length I was provided with by Marlin. However, you should note that with that length the droop was excessive, and it caused the ball joints to neck.

So would you suggest shorter then? Maybe 350mm eye to eye with 100mm stroke?

Not sure - I never investigated the travel / droop properly on the original setup.
