No problems with the build, although the manual is due an update. All supplied parts top quality - everthing fitted as it should. Came in on budget as well, even when using brand new running gear. Which was nice.. |

The build was fairly easy although having had a mechanical background certainly helped. But i felt the build manual could have been better. But now the car is on the road i am very happy with the cars overall performance and driveablity and would build one again. |

It would be a lttle unfair to qutoe the build time as my car is the black, V6-powered, Libra in your photograph. The car was factory built (it was the prototype V6 - way beyond my capabilities to build it!), using all new parts, which explains the build cost I've quoted - this also includes GTM's labour costs which are pretty reasonable.
The car itself is absolutely brilliant. A BMW salesman drove it recently, then had a 2.8 litre BMW Z3 for a couple of days, and reckoned that the Libra was the (slightly) better car. While the 4 cylinder cars are very fast (135 -140 mph, and 0-60 in around 6 seconds), the V6 engine transforms the car into something really rather special. The effortless low-to-mid-range torque produces a car with almost schizophrenic abilities - a gentle amble can be replaced by stunning acceleration with modest pressure on the 'go' pedal. Fuel consumption averages 34mpg over reasonable distance - around town it's less, depending on how many times you blast-off from traffic lights!
As the protoype car, we've carried out some moderately serious tests (at suitable tracks or proving grounds). The car will red-line in fifth gear, which works out at 150-155 mph at which speed the car is impressively stable. Much harder to get a 0-60 time, but it's no more than 5 seconds and possibly a fraction less.
I use the car as my everyday transport, and the reliability and precticality are impressive. There's much more usable luggage space than either the MG-F or the Lotus Elise, and the cabin's more spacious than either of them as well.
The V6 is available for demonstration drives - please contact the factory or me as the e-maill address shown.
