On a four wheeled vehicle the braking system must be fitted with a dual (split) circuit system with each circuit operating on two wheels (one wheel on each side of the vehicle)
The braking system must be capable of being operated on all 4 wheels from a single operation from the driver’s position with both hands of the driver being on the steering wheel.
It must obviously slow the vehicle in both forward and reverse.
The parking brake (handbrake) must be positioned so that it can ‘comfortably’ be used by the driver in the driving position.
The handbrake must be capable of being operated with the vehicle moving.
The handbrake must operate on all wheels on at least one axle.
The handbrake must have an independent mechanical control device which holds the handbrake in the ‘ON’ position
