DVLA initiative - Historic vehicles

A fried of mine in the classic car world has alerted me to a "policy clarification" by the DVLA regarding the registration status of Historic Vehicles as detailed in the FBHVCs latest newsletter (ISSUE 2) here https://www.fbhvc.co.uk/newsletter-archive
Amongst other things they are saying that
" any repair to a chassis or monocoque will be regarded as a modification and the vehicle will no longer be considered as historic"

This appears to be still under discussion and I for one am awaiting the outcome. In the meantime I will be very careful when driving my Historic tax status kit car on the road :horn:

Sounds like someone at the DVLA who has no idea what they are talking about.

Find a "Historic" car that hasn't had a repair on the chassis or monocoque !

Suppose you could drive around in a rusty, dented relic and you will be fine !

Or.....
Have they, in collaboration with the Tax man, developed a cunning plan to recover the lost Excise duty from Historic vehicles by eventually changing all historic vehicles to the normal PLG tax band (1.24million vehicles x GBP 195 = GBP 242 million) .Hmmm!

Remember it was a conservative government that introduced the whole concept. So many of them were / probably still are into the classic car scene and even if the top ministers in the transport department aren't themselves into classic cars at the moment they will be influenced by those that are !
House of Lords are mostly Bentley Boys for a start ! I'm sure the VSCC will have a thing or two to say on the matter so very unlikely to go through in my opinion !
