Schnelle 550 Spyder (ex Sammio 550 Spyder)

HI Guys

I've finally got the moulds and jigs back home to Belfast thanks to a few friends in the UK and also to Gary who is has always been a great help.

I've now got a website up and running but with limited content at the moment - this will change.

My car related business will go under the name of "Rennwagen" translating as racing car in English and the car will now be known as the Schnelle 550 Spyder - Schnelle translates as "fast" in English.

Please see the web-site for further information.

www.rennwagen.co.uk

I'll also be offering parts for the 550 as well as selling other Porsche related parts - mostly for older air cooled 911's. For those of interested in Porsche 911's you'll also see two 80's cars that are currently being backdated to 70's RSR replica race cars and also my 1965 911 race car which is coming along just nicely.

Needless to say the web site will get updated considerably over the next few weeks so be patient.

Regarding pricing for the std that Gary produced prices will remain very similar. I'm also going to be developing the chassis trying to create something that looks and handles much like the original car, but that will follow in due course as will pricing.

Transportation prices and a dealer in the UK will be announced soon so keep an eye on the web-site and this forum for updates.

We are going to start the construction of our demonstrator so i'll be posting pics and keeping the web-site up to speed as that progresses.

Thanks to all that have been supportive over since i've bought into this business and I look forward to discussing the kit in further detail as we all progress.

The 718 is far prettier anyway (imho), in fact, it was seeing a GP Spyder RSK 718 in a car auction car park in Wales in about 1979 that first got me interested in the whole home-built car thing.

Problem was, when I went to test drive the demo car I didn't fit in it - the original was designed around the likes of Stirling Moss who is somewhat shorter of limb than me and there just wasn't room under the dash for my legs. Bearing in mind that I was only 5'11" back then (I've shrunk about an inch since), you might want to 'try before you buy' in case you have the same problem.

I take it you've seen the ebay ad for 718 bodies?
