For some reason I can only post the first sentence, rest of post won't show?

You can't post a pound sign, just put the numbers in ! Was the co part sale before or after conversion ??

I emailed Chris a week or two ago, he is planning to start on the proper 300S body shell soon. Will be a build over a "standard" chassis such as an existing kitcar or perhaps a Triumph / Reliant.

Thanks, Lucky, I never knew about the lb sign.
It was up on Copart as salvage cat D. Sold for about 3,000 which was great value as it had an interior, dash and instruments.
It was however only a 1.9 with high mileage and terrible MOT history.

Never understood the reasoning to buy an ultra cheap donor car when you are about to invest many thousands in a conversion. The ultra cheap donor will always be there under the skin ! You can still find good Z3's, with the 6 cylinder engine for under 2000. You can get around 1000 back selling the unwanted parts, a no brainer really !

It is Z300S #2 or #3. Chris had it back to swap the BMW2002 rear lights for frenched-in Mini ones like WCA's Z300S #1. It was then sprayed in its current colour. I'm guessing that the then owner moved it on after the "accident" and it was picked up via Copart.
There's not much that can't be fixed on a Z3. Most spares are available and although it wouldn't be cheap, it's possible to rebuild to a mechanically as-new spec. Most z3s don't seem to need much if any welding- the outer panels may well rust away to scrap (like on my TFS when I got it) but underneath there may only be surface rust, easily treated (like on my TFS when I got it).

Copart sale was after the conversion
