The Cheapest Miglia shell you're likely to find!

With bits of a Sammio thrown in for luck :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1913867685...84.m1555.l2649

It looks like it's been chopped up and experimented with, but nothing that someone with a bit of patience shouldn't be able to address.

Given how much you'd be saving, even if you're a novice builder then this has _got_ to be a good project on which you can experiment and make mistakes! :)

I agree, they'd be fun to have tucked away for a rainy day.

I'd love to know the history of them. I think they might be able to tell some stories!

redratbike 28th October 2014 16:21

So,so tempted ...but I have some priorities...house and motorbike first but the miglia shell would fit in with a plan I have in my mind...haven't even got anywhere to store them so that's a no go.
Hope they turn up on here as someone's project.

Not me sadly, no trailer at the moment or I'd have been tempted. :(

They were a bargain though, even though they'd been chopped about.

swifty 28th October 2014 22:06

It was not me either, i did give them some serious thought and was very nearly tempted as i fancied a miglia earlier on in the year.

My thoughts were to buy these and try to make a Ferrari 625 TRC replica for the next build as the real item is just a little too much to buy, that is if you can find the genuine article for sale.

My money is on Mickey.

Funnily enough I was thinking 375MM -

Thinking about it I'd better check my Euromillions ticket as a real 375MM failed to sell at auction earlier this year and is still available for ball-park offers around $10,000,000. Bargain.

No I think it was Paul L he likes a challenge and has some spare room in his 'open air garage!!' LOL.

Paul L 30th October 2014 07:21

<COUGH>

<SPLUTTER>

Whilst I have accepted a challenge, I'd prefer something that worked/fitted out of the box.

So, as far as those scary jigsaw puzzle body shells are concerned, I'm out.

Ok time to own up.... yes it was me.

Many thanks to Chris and Dan at Tribute for helping load up the van this evening, it was great to see some of the wonderful projects they are working on too.

Plans?

Paul D 31st October 2014 21:44

To be honest I just couldn't let them get away for that price, but I have a rather large backlog of work right now. A back to bare metal respray of my son's MGB GT, sort the rebel wiring loom on '66', finish our original Sammio kit No. 11 for starters.

The sammio shell is Pat's old locust chassis project, the cockpit has been moved backwards and maybe other mods - difficult to tell in the dark.

The miglia body has been comprehensively filleted, shortened for a spitfire chassis and sections just not there any more. I do like the general shape though.

The plan for the moment is to put them round the back of the garage or in its roof out of the way to play with later on. Nothing that a roll of gaffa tape and some resin wouldn't fix!

Suggestions on a postcard??

Mister Towed 31st October 2014 21:52

Perhaps get Scottie and Paul L to do a 'car SOS' style makeover.

They could have the pair of them on the road to concours standard in a weekend. ;)

Did see your stretched D-type outside Tributes workshop last night. Looks a real beast even in the dark and I am very envious. Looking forward to seeing pictures when its painted.
