Luggage Solution...
Just wanted to share my luggage idea.. This allowed us to comfortably pack enough for a 2 weeks trip around europe..
(Total investment - 2 minutes of your time, £5 for luggage straps and £30 for the motorbike bags) I know that this car is not really a GT but I'm sure most of you will want to take it for a weekend away.. Happy building! Dylan http://www.purplematrix.co.uk/5exi/lug2.jpg http://www.purplematrix.co.uk/5exi/lug3.jpg http://www.purplematrix.co.uk/5exi/lug1.jpg |
Looks like a couple of missile lauchers
Have you got anything underneath them to protect the paintwork/Gel coat? John Madabout-Kitcars.com |
Yup - definitely agree on the missile launcher comment..
However I still think its much more pleasing to the eye than a standard luggage rack - especially on a curved shape of 5exi.. And once removed you have to stare really hard at the GRP panels to notice a cut that I made to accomodate the straps. Nothing underneath to protect the gelcoat/paint - can't see any need as the bags are made of some sort of leather lookalike vinyl which is soft enough and smooth enough not to damage the paintwork. Once strapped the bags don't move eevn a little bit so there is no 'rubbing' involved that would wear off a layer of paint.. Dylan |
Nice one, looks like they were made for it - maybe an 'extras' feature to suggest to Marlin.

Potential for touring
Not an owner yet, but thinking ahead I thought muontings could be fitted for a luggage box above the engine bay grills. After all, the race track rear spoiler fits in a similar area.
Anyone tried this? |
For touring etc, I was simply going to put a top box on.
I reckon a nice sporty one, will compliment the shape of the car. |

I had my friend's Caterham in mind with its chrome luggage rack at the rear. |
Who said anything about a roof!
Roof's are like doors - for girls! |

Crikey - makes me sound like some misogynistic neanderthal medallioned troll who cruises with chicks in tow - couldn't be further from the truth! |
Roof Doors What is this forum coming to?
Do you remember seing the 5EXi for the first time?
Did a roof or door even cross your mind? Beng a pureist, I find a door a handy gimmick and a roof something to add after a foot of snow. My wifw is partially disabled, she has always known that the little orange monster sitting in the garage is impossible for her to get into. So the sad news is I will have to do a lot of driving on my own, then again, don't they add weight to the car and (gulp) slow you down!!! Thumbs up to the 5EXi single seater. Trev |
I can't see the problem.
There's more protection, more compfort and more storage than the motorbike! And the wife don't want a roof either. |
