Here is the pieces I did for the headlight area with an offset, it has the benefit that I can use the cut out piece as a template for the plexi headlight cover...

and a corner for the front airintake- a lot of stretch in the flange:

and checking the symmetry, not to far off considering I did not use a wooden buck, it is all done by photos and 100% handbuilt..

Looking really well done! I've been following on another forum as well.

Axel 28th October 2016 06:58

I made a simple handtool to round that corner of with a hammer, works fine!

Thanks for your compliments!

Another part of the airintake, I used the same handtools to shape it. Something happened to the flat surface with the round flange but I solved it with shrinking to flatten it again.

Very well done Axel!

garyh 28th October 2016 14:47

Axel, all very clever, i bet it all feels very solid, is it very heavy?

Paul L 28th October 2016 18:46

Axel - Great to see some more progress on your car.

Your accuracy is amazing and just remember that no one else will view your car through a grid.

Well, maybe just this guy. :icon_wink:

Good luck, Paul. :)

Thanks guys, I wanted the front to be quite stiff so I have been using 1mm sheetmetal, the rest is 0.75mm... it is solid but not too heavy, I can push the car with two finger at the moment!

molleur 31st October 2016 11:08

Impressive work Axel!
Following your build on the "other" forum as well.

Nice work

swifty 31st October 2016 21:56

Just come across your thread tonight and have enjoyed reading about what is a fantastic build, I thought I had a major build but your build is pure magic I especially like the have a go attitude.

Are you looking at spraying the car yourself.

Axel 1st November 2016 10:25

Thanks and yeah, I will put it under primer myself and drive it like that for a while to see if everything stays or if I have tension cracks or other issues...if everything is fine I will first spray it myself and see how it turns out, might go for a professional paintjob later...!

Axel 2nd November 2016 09:32

Both sides welded in, sorry for the picture quality but germany is wet and dark at the moment so I cannot pull the car out of its garage...

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...pscs25nxws.jpg

Now comes a 5 days break, I promised family time and so there is no time for the car...

Axel 10th November 2016 07:27

Since the weather switched to winter this week with cold temperatures and lots of snow it is no fun in the workshop...so there is only minor progress.

I did the inner panels for the headlights and checked with the wheel, a tight fit, it is half an inch gap which should work I hope...

When I get home from work it is already dark when I go in the shop, so sorry for the bad pictures, but I want to keep you updated even if it is just minor progress or dark pictures...

Morning Axel, not that cold in London... yet. The last shot really shows off the lovely shapes you have created. I could sit there all day, looking.

Axel 11th November 2016 08:00

Thanks Gary!

Took some pics this morning, finally a face...!
