I see some comments about enlarging the Deon driver's footwell..

Has anyone done this? Any photos, comments?

I have size 11 feet so this matters!!!

I have some experience in widening the foot well on Deons.

The most effective method is as follows.

Remove the carpet.
Cut the current footwell away from the GRP bodyshell.
On the chassis remove the 50x50 upright that sits of the edge of the footwell and refabricate with a 50x50 open angle positioned with adequate clearance for the front wheel.
Form a new footwell in GRP and re-carpet.

In my experience that well add upto 65mm to the width of the footwell.

Thanks Tom! Most useful information. I have a Deon myself and am involved in the lack of space problem too.
What limits the forward extension, the steering rack?

Cheers, Kai

Hi Kia

The main thing that limits the space available for the footwell is the space the front wheel needs to sweep through when you turn the steering wheel. This is often refered to as the scrub radius. Although the steering rack effects the available space its secondary.

Another thing you can do is modify the central tunnel but its not a job for the faint hearted.

Hi Tom,

Well, if it's the wheel it is pretty much a sure stop, except if one would switch to 13" wheels  .

I will look into modifying the central tunnel as the chassis needs to be modified anyway, and the body is not permanently attached at the moment.
