Hi Gary, its a 'normal' 1 litre spray gun. It was a bit cold so the pressure was quite high as I had thinned it a fair bit, but wanted it on thick as poss, as its Hi-build primer! Saying that it was warm enough in the tent for it to inflate with the warm air and need to be clamped down!! 4kw of heaters maintained about 15 deg, when it was about 4 outside.
Out the shed this morning. Its now back home and under wraps for a few months untill I have time, space and enthusiasm to finish it.

Now its back home I can dry fit the lights etc, and finish the interior in the odd moment. We have a 1904 yacht in the shed now, and has to be out by Easter (see Mikado) on my website.)
Whilst I do want to finish it its the process of making things that I enjoy, so to throw it together at this stage would be nuts, and really annoy me! There is still more fairing to do on the bonnet, the rear wing joins are a bit Sharpe and radius ing where they run into the body. I also have to make the rear exhaust, change the door handles, make thewheel center trims and fit the spinners. Chrome window surrounds,vent trims, chrome the wipers close of the inner boot from the rear valance. Front inner wheel arches need to be made, plus the whole of the underside and all arches need schlutz-ing. Needs some trim panels to duct the air from the grill to the radiator, whilst still allowing the bonnet to open, plus cold air ducting to the air filter. Wiring needs extending to the flip front lights, plus screen squirter's. Some poly bushes are needed on the rear as some old ones are not quite right. After that a four wheel alignment. Finally some Dinitrol in the box sections to prevent decay in the future.
Finally it needs flatting back, more hi-build primer, then flatting back again, before I have a go at top coating it.
So when I have done that, I will be nearly there!
It took me seven years to rebuild my boat, so a couple of months more on this one is no problem!

Untill I flat back its hard to say, but the primer does makle you see lots of bits you have missed, and I mean real howlers! When its all colours its hard to see whats what after a while, but then primer gives you an idea of how far you have got. It fills in scratches and pin holes, but anything larger shows up more clearly so you can get it next time. I recommend a coat of primer just to regain ones sanity!!!

Hi Hammy, finally pulled up the covers. Tyre to arch clearance is 40mm, although 50 mm on the center. Hope that's enough!

Ply and foam backed black stuff over the top. I think I have done this already. no visible GRP anywhere inside.
It can be, and its what any sane person would do. However, I didn't because............
I wanted an air gap for insulation. Cool in summer, warm in winter.
I wanted to run the wires for interior lights and heated rear window under it.
It avoids possible wrinkles and compound curves on the lining.
Would I do it again? No, I would just stick the lining on !!
I also had to lower the roll bar a bit to make it fit!!

Bogged down with work since it came home. No room in workshop at the mo and working on it at home is so slow so its best wrapped up for now. Home to get some time from August, which is when I started it last year..........
Well I got one headlight cut out and sort of fitted this eve. Also marked out fir my rear lights and ordered the rear reflectors and number plate lights. Its nice to be back on it.
MOT penciled in for Thurs
MOT now sat at 8am. Fitted the other headlight this eve, temporary numberplate's then removed the back box and welded in an extra bend to drop the tail pipe down. Final fit to.arrow. I looks better with the lights in place!

Well it is inside the boot, but it sort of pops up when you need it.
Just refitting the door seals. Rear window in, all the lights work. Had a quick whizz around with the vacuum, and just sort of throwing some interior bits in. Still need to fit mirrors.
MOT tomorrow am, then hopefully over to Poole to see which bits fall off along the way......

The new workshop is fantastic and perfectly retro for all your cars. Nice size workshop and a forecourt too. A good show of 250's, and nice to put faces to forum names and look at the cars. It interesting how they come from the same moulds, but all look so individual.
It was a long day for me, last minute jobs in the morning, insured it (£115, Adrian Flux) then off to the MOT at 10.30 (already late....). Arrived with smoke pouring out of one front wheel, and a seized caliper. Super MOT tester Mark had it on the ramp and a new caliper arrived before I new he had ordered it!! A tweet of headlight aim, some brake bleeding and it passed. :-D Many thanks to Mark for his enthusiasm and time on a Saturday
Hoofed it 95 miles down to Dorset, where I clocked up another 25 miles getting lost as my phone is ill, and confused.
After the meet I hoofed it again (all legal limits Towed!) to Washington just past Arundle bringing the day's total mileage to 180. :-/
It was my first real drive in an MX5. It loves to rev, and goes around any corner I thought I would not make....great B roads in Dorset. The exhaust is a bit of a drone on the m way but worth it for the rest of the time.
Back home today so total miles about 225 this weekend.
