The rear will get worked on soon.
The diffuser outline will be shaped, the corners rounded similar to the front lower air intake.
The centre finned area will remain largely untouched and will end up a contrasting gloss black.
The roof, wheels and accents will all be in gloss black.
The body colour is still undecided but I am down to 3.
All are pearlescent as its the best way to show all the curves.
Im also considering cutting a number plate recess in the rear to match the grille opening, inspired by the Jag concept

Its getting easier now its stopped fighting me.
So do I gut the oval recess for the licence plate?
I had a quick google but not much came up, but I like the shaped plate idea and im sure there was a model with an oval shaped number plate.

The very round rump of the z300 is what attracted me to it but its also the thing that makes it hard to find suitable parts to style it.
For example F type jag rear end looks very curvy as does the Aston Vantage but when you view the rear from above you realise that they only feature a mild curve with squared off ends. Nothing like the compound curve I require.
I have a few ideas but finishing the front is my priorty.

I like quite a lot of that, maybe the number plate recess is too narrow and that's why it looks wide. The shape is hard to sketch
I did plan round rear lamps originally
But the design has changed a lot since then, still like them.
They remind me of my first Roadster
I guess there are quite a few elements that im carrying over subconsciously.
This is almost Roadster version 2.
I managed to get 40 minutes on the roof at the weekend.
With fresh eyes I trimmed the offending fibreglass and the roof sat down as it was intended.
I sat in and checked the new all round visibility and im happy to say with the huge glass roof panel its a much nicer place to be with roof up.
I still have fettling to do before I can bond the rear screen in and then lay up the outer glass layer.
It looks a little too curvaceous at the moment but should match up well when the body panels are complete.

Its a blend of the XK180/F concept and the Panzani.
The Panzani uses Alfa Mito rear lamps and for ease I've painted them in.
Whats your opinion?

No reason at all Nick - I do like the S type shape you suggested.
Danny - the elise lights are the same size as the fiat lamps I started with and they look too small.

Its my Birthday so I treated myself after work and visited the workshop.
In true Jaguar concept tradition, the work is happening mainly after hours.
I now consider the workshop as "skunkworks" the legendry special aircraft to come out of Lockheed Martin were also developed after hours away from the main production.
I managed to get a few hours before the sunset.
The eagle eyed among you will see that a crack has appeared around the power bulge.
Chris and Dan will glass it back together when they get a chance.
Im looking forward to the views over the bonnet.

Dsg posting the Panzani rear reminded me how much I liked the xk180 and f type concept rear.
I wasn't going to go so wild and thought that just taking the oval to be the number plate recess might add more to the rear.
When I looked at the Jag's I realised that they had used the front bumper to form the rear.
I had the earlier xk bumper that I had sectioned before opting for the late one for the front, so I bolted it on.
It had potential, the curves were close.
I used this shape to "paint" the pictures on the previous page.
But to me I felt it had a "droopy arse" ie it started to resemble a boxter rear.
I did give it 10 minutes attention on my last visit and after relooking at it I got this idea to flip the bumper over.
A bit of trimming and a lot of filler and it would be close.
Maybe a splash mould could be taken and then bonded onto the z300 rear

The Z300 boot lid doesn't come with the hole cut so its an easy omission.

I confess I hate chrome on modern cars, but those bumpers look great on that.
Not a convincing replica but a pretty car none the less.
Work on the roof is progressing albeit slowly as work and the weather are conspiring against me.
I have sorted the rubbers now so they seal against the windows and im happy to report it is once again weatherproof
The edge of the roof is still a work in progress as is the final shaping of the lower sides.
The 8mm error seems I didn't take into consideration the roof frame is under tension when fitted on the fabric roof.
This meant I had to recut the rear window aperture and laminate a new recess.

I have been working on the roof but the nights are getting dark and Im fighting the weather again.
Today I ventured down to the "Dream Factory" at the crack of dawn
When I arrived Chris was already hard at it, upstairs laminating.
He had put some time into fixing the cracks in the power bulge and he fixed the damaged lower bumper
I set to work filling and shaping the nearside and when I was happy with my progress the laborious task of trying to make both sides match.
Im pretty much there so I then worked on the bulge.
I kept spraying the primer on to check my progress
