Colour choice made final now and will probably be followed by several other final decisions on colour.

Door to wing issue pretty much sorted now bar a little fettling to stop any rubbing. A version of the Nubodi split, cut and fibreglass method was used.

Cheers, Bob.

Thanks Paul,

A few things have conspired to put the paintwork back a bit but it should be getting paint within about 2 weeks.

Cheers, Bob.

Paint shop trip this morning. They've put loads of work in this week and it should be in primer today or tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be putting top coat photos up early next week.
Paint is finally set at the dark blue from the sample painted on the wing earlier. Paint ordered now so no more idea changes.

It's getting close.

Whilst the doors were off the check straps were shortened a bit to ease the door gap issues.

Window frames are also off for me to fettle and repaint.

Body has been primered, stoppered, primered, and is getting it's was rubbing down. door shuts and the inside of the doors and boot lid are being prepared for paint.
Undercoat this weekend, top coats soon after.

It's that difficult balance between keeping the price attractive/ ease of finishing the car. As I like to put a few of my own ideas into any project, bonded in bonnet, altered rear lights and set in rear fog on this one, I think the extra work before paint suits my approach better.

Each to their own.

I'm off to the body shop again tomorrow. This time it's not to check on progress with the 250, rather it's because a BMW drove straight into the side of my daily Maestro as I went round a roundabout today. We were the only 2 cars on the road so why he didn't see me I can only guess. The door is destroyed and the sill bent. I'll then have to tell the insurance company that I want to keep it as they're bound to want to right it off. Do I need the hassle?

PAINT

It came out of the spray booth this morning. It looks lovely, the blue seems to change from blue to greeny blue to even purplish blue in the shadows depending on the light although it only a straight colour with no metallics, pearls of other fancy stuff in it.

The doors and boot will be painted this afternoon and the car flatted and polished tomorrow. I've got to finish filling/sanding/painting the window frames now as I need them reassembled and ready for fitting on Saturday when the doors, skins and handles go on.

Fitting up starts early next week.

Not a problem, it's only me that needs to be sure about the colour.

I found a B&Q colour chart colour which I liked, the paint suppliers then sprayed lacquer on the card and used their computer matching to get something near.
I can ask the painter for the supplier and any codes they have if it helps.

All being well, I'll be there on Monday.

I didn't have my camera when I went to the paint shop today but I'm happy to report that the doors are on with skins, window frames and handles. Also the boot.

I'll next go up on Thursday when a mate of mine puts the rear window in and I'll start fitting up. I spent some time today cleaning more bits up ready. including finishing making up the grille badge from a bought Italia badge and the spare MX5 fresh air vent.

The covers for the side vents are painted and the trims with them may or may not get put along the sills.

The 250S badge I bought before I even ordered the car as I liked it on Chris's demo prototype.

More updates at the end of the week.

Had the call today that I could start fitting the car up, so I've made a start. I'll be back on Thursday to carry on.

I'm very pleased with the results, the finish and the colour.

We offered the sill trim up and opinion was that it will work well. I've been donated some suitable fixing clips as well. It's a job for a time when I can take all day just doing one side as I know if I rush it will go on wonky or the clips won't line up.

Hi Smash,
No wires, thanks. I'll be putting the 17" steels back on.

Seats were beige, I've changed to the black ones and although they are a bit tired, they'll do fine for now.

I have no problem with you badging yours as a Ferrari, we can do whatever makes us happy.

Mine makes me very happy doing it my way.

Getting the build thread back on track, I've been doing more fitting up today and the rear screen is in.
What looked like it could be an issue with the rubber looking oversize, proved not to be too bad when we actually put it in. The trims look as though they'll be a bugger to fit as most folks said they would so I'll have a go at it when the car's home next week.

Will take more photos shortly.

I cleaned it all under the bonnet yesterday. I'm not doing more than that for now as I'm not much on leaving the bonnet open at shows.

Today I made one of the new door top edge trims. Chris made some when I first had the car done but these are going to be a bit longer. They are a good place to mount the mirrors and should look fine when polished up.

My 3 little granddaughters are here from South Wales for a few days now so the car is on the back burner until the end of the week.

Cheers, Bob.

Thanks Paul,
I had the rev and rear fog light under the rear valance to start with but a mate said it looked like a pair of bo--ocks hanging down so I had to have a different plan. The rear fog is a race car wet weather light on the edge of the roll cage.

Cheers, Bob.

I had some time on the car today doing fitting up on the outside.

Changed to the steel wheels, fitted the badges and finished making the door top trims.
