Don't worry, I have every intention of posting as much as possible. I find the other posts on this site where people have put kinda 'how to' guides really useful.

Although saying that I've not read the instructions yet so they might be beyond me yet :-)

After painting the roll cage last weekend it was time to fit it this weekend. Had the help of a friend.

I drilled the holes in the rear as the instructions said and then fitted the roll cage. A couple of rubber mallets got it in and down

We then realised the front windscreen roof and door seal and the plastic where the sun visors and interior light are in, had to be removed. Also the holes on my side were not quite in line so had to lift the roll cage remove rubber and plastics and elongate the holes.

Then onto attaching the front.

Again,it didnt quite line up so needed to re-drill. Took the burrs off with the angle grinder.

I've given it a coat of hammerite and will fit tomorrow.

Most of the day was spent tidying the unit rather than doing much work.

Hopefully will get the dash from Chris during the week and ready for next weekend and some trial fitting.

One of those days today when I did a few hours of jobs but didn't seem to achieve much.

I fitted the brackets for the roll cage that I had painted and left to dry overnight then decided to remove some of the fittings from behind the seat area - wind deflector mounts and another couple of brackets.

Then onto removing the electric window mechanism.
They were pretty awkward to just get off the mounts and then when I did...

Not a lot to show for todays work. Mainly spent it flattening back the paint on another Z3 I'm helping restore.

I did get a delivery of air vents.

Dash should be over here during the week and then I can get cracking on the interior.

Carpets also should be got soon. Going to have to hurry up and make some decisions soon.

A little more done today.

First the angle grinder was out again today. Cut the door skin as per the instructions from Tribute.

At the top of the 'hole' there is a bar that also needs cutting out.

Then tidied it up a little with hammerite to stop corrosion. Will attach a metal plate soon so it's ready for the door handle.

Next up was a start on the dash...

This is how it was in it's removed state. There's plenty of instructions on how to remove on the t'internet, and I'd already removed so no pictures anyway.

It's pretty obvious where all the screws are that you need to remove but you do need to remove the venting to make some screws accessible.

With the two 'pods' removed and the venting reattached this is what we have.

I'm trying to follow your advice of doing a little often :-)

It's a lot more motivating seeing little jobs ticked off.

Also helping a friend respray his Z3. Which is good as it means we practice spraying on his car first!

Still on primer stage but it's actually looking much better than expected.

This is a rule (tape measure) just laid next to the lock to give an idea of where the cuts need to be.

I'll take a video showing why the hole needs to be bigger than just allowing access to the bar in the pic

Didnt get chance to do much this weekend but did start on the dashboard.

I initially thought that the dashboard just needed the pods removing and that was it. It isn't.

A cut needs to be made to remove material from the centre at roughly the area where the two nodules are.

This might actually be a bit too much but it works out ok. There's also some trimming to be done within each semi cicle area leaving you with a dash board looking like this...

There is some trimming to be done of the venting. I'll show that next time.

I looked at your dash pictures to try and gauge where to cut.

Do you just have the fixings at the side of the dash or in the centre too?

Good, that's same as me - I think it needs bracing in the centre so will look at that in next few weeks.

Back at it after a month of with the weather.

Another bit of a tidy up and then looked to fit the front end.
Assumed I'd mislaid the nuts that attach the bonnet to the hinges. Spent a while looking till I made the sensible decision to look at the Z3 parked outside and quickly discovered that they are bolts and I need to purchase nuts. Any one an idea of what size?
