I would rather keep the bmw windows
Better to have something that works and works well than a bodged together set up , that doesn't seal properly all that wind noise and rain get in
The waiting for the project to begin is hard.
I have bought the bits and pieces I think I need, the rear design has matured into something simple but without going too boy racer.
My son and I are trying to decide colour schemes.

Popped into Chris today
Had a chance to put my rear light cups against the curves of the rear and im happy that they will blend into the shape well.
I also managed to hold my chosen diffuser to the rear clam.
Width and depth look very close. I will have to cut a section out and join the 2 mouldings.
The TVR style stainless cans look made for it.
I have been on holiday in Devon and Cornwall this week and I spotted a Z300s out in rush hour in Exeter.
It was unpainted with circular rear lamps. But despite it being a work in progress it looked great.
It had a certain TVR Griffith look about it.

The Z300s is an underated model - im surprised more haven't been built.
I feel slightly guilty that we are cutting one up ...... but you cant make an omelette without breaking eggs.
Im really looking forward to the new model taking shape
Im still sketching and fleshing out the design.
Certain truths have emerged - the top of the grille opening has to share the Cobra's line or the whole design changes.
Im still unsure on the bonnet vent, it looks bland with no detail but for sure big vents look like an afterthought.
The side vents are also in question.
I have decided that the image of the cobra we all love is because is almost a caricature - cartoon like . Oversized grille, scoop, arches.
Some of these oversized elements are difficult to incorporate into a modern design.
Even though Shelby approved the Ford styled Cobra concept, I personally don't like it
The sketch is an idea -a way to demonstrate the image in my mind. I cant draw exactly as it will be.
Im the stylist - I create the image Chris will sculpt the shape for real and therefore it will evolve.
The sketch was primarily to see how chosen colours and details will look
I have my wheels already
From my initial measurements I will need about 15mm spacers on the front as the Z300 is wider than the Z3 as it was designed to accomadate Nick's wire wheels and adaptors
I think the Z300s is wider than the Kobra
Chris added lips to the arch to bring the Kobra shell out to cover the Z3
Im sticking at 18's and I don't even think im lowering it if I can help it.
I've had race cars on the road fun but you don't drive them too far
The rear lights were measured up on Thursday and Chris has had the front lights for weeks
Its really only slight changes to the Z300s
Consider it a nosejob rather complete reconstructive surgery

Yesterday I was trying to keep the design clean and I was concentrating on how colour would impact on the styling.
I was happy enough to upload it but during the day I kept revisiting it - something had been lost in this rendition.
After sleeping on it and I grabbed my pencils and gave it another go.
I scribbled it down in seconds - lots of errant lines and scruffy but I think I caught it more this time.
I always wanted an aggressive style. Yesterdays was just a bit docile.
I left a lot of the lines to show the contours, the complexity of the grille opening is more obvious.
I don't know how much of this styling will be in the finished article but I know Chris was on the same page during our initial brainstorming.
I don't get on with photoshop, im old fashioned in that sense but I do play with effects from time to time.
So how would the style cope in a dark palette?
This is obviously just the negative but it does have a menace about it.
Less of a Cobra more a Vampire.

1/ because I never work out scale
2/ I drew it in a couple of minutes
On a quest to get the detail right - at first glance im sure most think they look the same.
The outline is close but the details are different
This version no scoop no vents
The Headlamps are more to scale
Wheels closer to the schnitzers im going with and closer to scale
The grille section of the front lays back on this version as opposed to up right and undercut on the previous sketches.
I tried ink as opposed to the pencil lines - there is no mistaking the contours

Still a little off but much closer - remember the z300s is my starting point so if you can squint you can see that cutting off the long nose takes us very close
You'll be entering a market with a design very similar to Anthony Cherry's Bertini:
I like Anthony's car very much though prefer the aggressive front design of yours. My feeling is that the Bertini front end doesn't have the presence expected of a sports car. I'd like to see your front on the Bertini whilst keeping the very pretty rear-end of that car. It would be interesting to see what your design ahead of the wheel centres would look like grafted onto the Bertini.
Anyway, please accept my comments in the positive manner in which I mean them. You have an excellent concept and it will be a shame to have to change it too much to get to production.

I visited interested in buying a Gt25 I told Anthony that the rear looked like he had not finished it - The golf 5 diffuser is the only feature
This is how Anthony put the Bertini front end together and before you all complain he told me so.
Ive been building cars for 30 years and for the price he paid (£Xx,xxxx) to devop it I think somebody took advantage
you could buy a brand new 911 for that.

Its a bit of a hash - Nubodis Z300s isn't lowered in fact the rear is raised but its the basis I used to show the cropped nose

Personally, I do like the Bertini GT25. It looks well built and seems to be easy to put together. Something many first time builders will appreciate.

tail lamps. (This could be illegal in some countries.) The front is OK. just needs bigger headlamps. (the Fiat 500 units look small) and maybe a bonnet scoop.
You are skilled at photoshop DS but mini lamps are bigger than that fiat lamps 8" mini lamps 13" long 8 wide
As for the Z3 base - it must be very close as our very own legend WCA had been on the forum with various projects-

1st time I bought a TVR to convert but enjoyed it instead until I sold it to Chris for him to cut up a year later.
2nd time I bought a Scimitar to turn into a G46. I almost completed that before snapping my foot off meaning I could only drive automatics so that had to go.
3rd time lucky. Just bought a 2.8 BMW Z3
Now I know that none of Tributes kits currently fit the Z3 but I am sure Chris can work his magic to get bits of the A352/D Type/Mistral to fit.
Hmm, maybe a trip to Poole in the new car is in order to discuss what is possible...

My final point is Tribute Z300s and Kobra are also quality products that are just as easy to fit and do attract first time builders.
Im sure first time or in fact any builders object to the £4K kit price for front and rear Bertini mouldings
Tributes are great value but most are bespoke - Ian's Z300s has a larger grille area and the vent smoothed into a power bulge. Many Tributes have tweaks as per the customer request
