I know what youmean Andy - 2nd pic from the top and 2nd from the bottom look really patched together Frankenstein style. I hope to get the after glassing pics up soon.

d&O - I said exactly the same thing to Chris last Saturday. The Z3 has a stumpy little arse at the best of times. Once he added another foot to the nose I feared it would look stupid.

That was my biggest fear when I saw the first photos but even from the first picture showing the dry fitted back end (top of this page) I could see the proportions worked. Hence my comment : Just me loving the back end to?

BTW we have worked out a way to get side exhausts with twin exits each side

More pictures of Chris's great work arrive earlier this evening but because I am stuck in a hotel with an iPad I can't work out how to post them up.

Suffice to say I have a lovely looking back end

Have you chosen a colour yet?

Yes.

Many times.

Every time it is different.

At the moment it is claret/burgundy. Sort of like this

If you look at the back wing of the G46 I was originally building you can see the remains of where I tried the colour.

I find it works nicely to show off the lines, better than the default Ferarri red but for some reason I keep getting dragged back to blue...

and then again there is...

Look what you have done now!

MacLaren Lave Red is in top position at the moment. I wonder if they stock it in Halfords

29 Sep 2013, 11:22am Mechanical Overhaul Chassis and Body
Solid not metallic - agreed. The MacLaren is metallic but it was the colour rather than the finish I was aiming for

Ruby Red Ral 3003

The Google images make it look about right. I have looked on your blog and the wheels look good. I might uy a rattle can of Ruby Red and see what it looks like on the curves of bodywork.

Look what someone on the Sammio forum has posted. Even the right colour

Interior?

Not sure yet. I have sort of run out of money at the moment. I have stripped most of the easy to remove interior plastic out already

This is now simply some hardboard covered in automotive carpet and looks okay.

The dash, central console and transmission tunnel is still BMW plastic at the moment though. Still trying to work out what I can/want to do.

Christ you have aged between those pictures!!!

It is like one of those : When I first saw it VS When I could afford it

And it will look lovely in that approximate colour of primer. Who knows, Nick might even get a chance to drive it before then!

Keep up the great work Chris!

Still on holiday but I have just seen the pics Chris!

That looks fantastic!

Can't wait to see it for real.

Back from holiday and some time to pore over the pictures some more.

I can't believe how much difference the red paint makes in terms of pulling out the curves and showing off the shape. I absolutely love the front.

I was a little sceptical BMW, retaining the windscreen, - That was a worry for me, especially with the Z3 having such a short rear end. I went sown a few weeks back to have a look and was amazed how well balanced it all looked.

The back end is about a foot longer that the Z3 and with curves to match the front which somehow masks the modern windscreen size and angle. It is a bit like the doors or screen on the MX250, if you know they are stock items and stare at them it is obvious and they can look wrong but when you focus back on the whole the problem disappears.

Looks like I won't make Exter as I am being sent to Vegas on work (promise not to spend all the car money) so I am relying on lots of photos.

Absolutely delighted with what I have seen so far. Now I need to shifty the old BMW alloys, rear lights, side sills and pair of bumpers. eBay, here I come.

I swear that it is better proportioned now than the Z3 ever was.

The original hood, screen and doors blend in well. Even though the screen is a bit too laid back the bonet length and flared up flanks disguise this well.

The blue over black effect of the final picture looks just like the sea I was swimming in last week when viewed fromt he cliff tops. Very artistic. Now do I still want the ruby red paint job...

I must remember to order the other side repeater. Two shown in the eBay picture but only one mentioned in the description, guess what? Only one turned up.

Body is just a buck, yes.

Not the original plan but Chris is such a nice persuasive man that I let him do it. He gets a complete set of molds so he can replicate this as many times as he likes and all I get is a much better car.

Win-Win

Speak to Chris but I guess so.

Fits a 1999 BMW z3 2.8

It should be at the Exeter show if you want a look at it.

Just freak in love it!

Boot flap needs attention but it is all the shit I wanted!

Bang on the money. Ignore my email and keep the car to sort out exhaust etc while I am away.
