I have also had a visit from Gary (Lancelot Link) on here , we think we may have a decent soulotion to the door to bonnet leading edge gap, watch this space.

The screen has a slight curve to it, but it still does look a bit flat, I was going to bond it in , paint the edge black so you don't see the sealer and use some small M4 button head stainless bolts.

If I was to do another one I think i would try and take the rear screen more in to the rear quarters, (as per the original) this would mean trying to bend the perspex a bit.

I have one of these to paint for a customer soon and from what I hear on the grapevine their may even be a better more original screen available for the rear.

Gary (Lancelot Link) is putting the car together as we speak and he has a cunning plan.... I am sure if it comes off he will share it on here.


Colour choice is a bugger to tie down, once I had sort of decided I just ordered the paint so no going back now as I am too tight to buy another lot.

All we are going to do is cut back the inner skin on the bonnet, re bond it and add glass to the leading edge.

I am hoping to do the last of the glass work on my one this week end so will update when done.

I have done a bit more on it, Pics are on my camera at work so will try and get some sorted at weekend.

It's not far off the primer stage, the hot weather has slowed things a bit and I have been doing some maintenance on the workshop, new compressor, wiring painting etc.

Some pics for Steve regarding the gap issue on the door to bonnet.

So I just taped a very thin strip of alloy to the out side of the edge, just to act as a former.

I had cut back the inner frame of the bonnet by about 20mm, then glassed a couple of layers of matting in.

This left me more material than I needed so just whizzed down with the air saw and finished off with a sanding block, still a bit to do but going in the right direction.




I also got the centre panel in the bonnet a bit better,I have seen them left as they come from Tribute and IMHO it does let the front down a bit.

Still a lot to do but the customers 250 will now take precedence over my own car, my bugger will have to go on the back burner for a while.

The passenger side was really bad to correct, the curve on the bonnet seemed more pronounced that side.

Both doors open fully with out catching, they are tight, really tight but they do clear.

Well I have it all to do on the Blue one again, happy days eh ?

I think it is more to do with how much bonding paste is applied to each side to hold the inner skin on, on my bonnet it was deffo thicker one side to the other.

The cut is needed both sides to pull the bonnet in line with the sills.

Some progress to report,

I have taken two weeks off from customers work to push forward with the car, it was the only way it was going to get done really.

The panel work was 99 per cent there it just needed a final skim of slop to level up a coupe of panels, the only thing I did do was delete the roof vent, I have had an alloy one made for the rear screen.

Some pics.
1st job was to cut a panel out and bond it in to the vent space, I thought this would be easier than trying to glass up the hole from inside.



I also needed to make sure my new door frames were a decent fit to the aperture, it made sense to do this before paint naturally.


Next was to get the Polyester reface on the car, followed by guide coat and then 2k high build primer.





And then on to the panels, boot lid inside.







Flow coated the inner bonett.

The flash on the camera is making the colour look a lot lighter and redder than it is, it is more of a Maroon , I will take some outside tomorrow and see if they are better.

I haven't spoken to him in a while Steve,

I think with the cold weather it has slowed him down a bit, I will send him a message and see what's what.

The frames are still a work in progress deal, I still have to make some templates and get the glass cut.

Very pleased with them, but they were a lot of hard work.

I do like the colour, as I have said before always a hard one to nail down, I think it works well on the shape of the car.

Oh and it is the only Ferrari item on the car lol.

Anyway, I took some pictures outside today, it was very overcast but it does show the colour a bit better, I still have a lot to do, rear window, splash shields, panel in the boot area etc etc.

I was going to leave it as it is, but seeing the Blue one covered I may go down the same route.

I still have some work to do on my rear screen so have a week or so to make a decision.

Also wondered about using that stretchy carpet, I think you did your headlining in it ?

Oh and the holes were more for ventilation, hope to stop the rear screen misting up as it is perspex.

It has only had a 1st flat n polish,

Their are still some flatting marks to remove here and there.

It needs to be top mopped and sealed and waxed, will wait until the paint hardens out a bit.

It was only painted last Sunday.

I know what you mean ref the wheels,

They do look a bit on the big side, they are 17 inch,The arches are quite big to fill and it looked worse before I fitted the coil overs, hope fully with the spinners on and some Dunlop stickers it will break it up a bit.

Any way I blame Bob on here (Hurnleft) as I basically copied him .

I filled out the forms for the re registering bit today so hope that goes ok.

I did originally have a very bright Silver in mind for the grille but changed my mind at the last minute, I can always change it at a later date.

Ref no plates, it is crying out for some Black n Silver ones, watch this space but I will keep the originals with me in case of getting pulled.

I think pulling a mould off it is an ok idea but with the curve on the doors not sure how it would go down with the home builder, not saying it can't be done, just makes it a bit more involved.

Again very pleased with the reaction to the car, at times it has been like a meeting of people with Touretts at the work shop, I am very happy with the way it has turned out.

Credit to Chris and Dan at Tribute, I know I have been vocal about the quality of the kit at times but I could never have achieved that shape in a Million years, thanks again for all the comments.
