Sorry for being so quiet as was away in France on Historic tour, saw commetns on phone but couldnt respond due to not remembering password, anyhow back now.

The tour was brilliant and if anyone wants to have some fun doing something different then I highly recommend it. Lots of nice people, great drives, great cars!

Sorry not to see you there Smash, but had a good chat with your mates.

Here are some pic's in date order....

Thanks Smash, They selected a number of cars and they were all amazing. The event was themed for German cars this year and 2 stunning porsches took some prizes with the grand prize going to a bright red ammerican pick up truck!

I have a little video and will post at some point.

Hi Scot,

Yes had a good chat with your brother, please pass on my regards and with one of the blokes with a Cobra, who had a spinner come off but managed to retreive it! For the paint on my car we were trying to go with a chrome/silver finish and it didn't come out as expected, I am told it was a new paint type that needed a particular process, anyhow the final result is great and happy/delighted with it in the end. Yes there was lots of interest in the car, asking what kit it was, etc. I am a sales man by trade and think I did a good job telling people about it. However interest doesn't always immediately convert into orders... There were 2 large old massive cars a Merc and a Bentley that I saw and they lloked fantastic, hats off to those drivers who drove them so far, lets hope our cars will still be around in 80 years or so!

I hope your mates arrived back safely from the trip, as I said in a previous post, it was very worth while and fun! :yo:

Classics on the Crick

Hi,

Went to Classics on the Crick today and managed to win first prize for the car, over some other very nice cars. The judges must have had good taste in my oppinion! :icon_razz:

Thanks!

The judge said that it was difficult to see that it wasn't the real thing, I assume he meant from the outside at least.:icon_eek:

Although these things are subjective, but good to get and hope tributes can get many more as would prove the brand is as good as the rest of them, if not better.

Cheers.

19 Jul 2017, 12:55pm Mechanical Overhaul

Hi Smash,

Yep looked at the wheels you posted (alloys but Wire look) and look nice, but hefty price tag, similar to the wheels you had imported?

Just don't fancy the cleaning of those wires and probability of some rust spots coming through. One of the guys at Laon with an e-type said he takes his off to clean and they take 1 hour each.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Also got to leave some improvements that can be made by the next owner :thumb:

I'm seeing Richard this weekend if the weather is ok, so will talk to him about it them.

Everything is for sale, but for now we (kids and the missus!) are enjoying the use of it, we've had some great weekends weather wise. Not sure what I could easliy replace it with that would get the same experience with, other than that GT-40 on the other thread!

Good to know its not so as involved!

Thanks Dave!

Not too sure if photos are getting boring of me using the thing, not really doing any work to it, just enjoying the weather and getting it used!

Price is an issue but not the main one, will consider, no rush though.

In an ideal world the list of things still on the to do list would include:

Wire wheels
Period seats
Dash exchange
Rear mud guards
Exhaust cover
Snap Exhaust tips
Emergency stop pull to Drivers side front vent
Red light to top of rear passenger wing
Chrome jacking point covers

However in my humble opinion none of the above would increase my enjoyment of it any more than I already have in any significant way.

Hi Smash,

Looks interesting, how to secure without removing sills? or maybe best to remove sills? :help: Or maybe drill hole and bond in place?
