More parts added...

I got a BMW blanking plate and boot handle part from Richard at Nubodi and fitted them, along with a Front strut brace and Faux Ferrari Model plate which I riveted into the door shut area (Nicked idead from Kevemm's car, sorry :icon_eek:). Also fitted original kick plates and fittings. Ohh and put a chrome strike plate on rear boot fitting for hook to come through nicely, again nicked the idea from Jeff H, sorry again.....:icon_eek:

Hi Scott,

Kick covers were on the Z3 BMW, standard issue, has roadster embossed in them in the chrome part, so guess mine was a Roadster intitally?

Had to dremmel part of the black plastic moulding away to make flush fit with the new rear part, but other than that, just push fit back into place on original fixings.

:high5:

Cheers.

Strike plate

Good morning Roger,

The Strike plate was a standard Chubb lock kit from B&Q, with an extended modified hole to allow the hook to pass through. :biggrin1:

Cheers!

Engine bay and Boot area

Hi All,

I have been tidying the enigne bay and carpeted the extended boot area part, here are some photos.

Iv'e always been a bit embarrassed showing someone under the hood as it was all a little 'untidy', but not now! :icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin:

Hi Jag,

As I had a grey gelcoat finish its not really noticable, so no won't be doing a flowcoat, did however find the smaller inner bonnet gets really hot so have added reflective metal strips to the entire underside, looks like a big kitkat wrapper now, to deflect any heat and so I don't get any more hotspots. :whoo: :flame:

For the aircon fan, nope don't have any plans for that, with roof up and fan on full blast on cold there is plenty of circulation, can even put the electric windows down a bit to help. Also can bring the top down, for even more circulation! However I might have a differnet view if we have a really hot summer with the black interior, lets see!:target:

Really looking forward to see progress on your car!

Cheers.

Hi Steve,

Yep was thinking about what to do with those, I blanked the studs off with some black dome nyloc nuts, i'll consider your approach, also thinking about using one side as a tow hitch, will need to get a bracket made up for that, not sure if it would stick out the front grill or another modification needed. :laser:

Cheers

out an about

I was out today at the Small sharnbrook event, it is localish to me. I have noticed that my brakes are squeaking, so when I got back I stripped the pads out and used some copperslip, so now no squeaking, yay!

Hi Mr Towed,

Thanks and Sharnbrook was quite a small event, I think you have been before, right?

There was a good mixture of old cars, hypercars, american cars and some bikes. It was good to talk to a wide selection of people, not just about kit cars!

Also I got a contact with a chap who has a 'modern' Ferrari GTO with the same paint colouring as mine, so trying to arrange a meet and get a photo shoot of old and new together, will be fun!

Cheers.,

Hi Paul, Lucky to come across someone who knows the chap, so hopefully we can arrange it and on a nice day! Yes it gets plenty of attention, hence the A4 sheet in the windscreen so I don't lose my voice repeating everything. :whoo: If nubodi and Tribute dont get extra business from people asking about my car then I will be suprised! :smokin: I should be on some sort of commission structure.....

Ha ha, great find of that shot from a random! plenty of head turning in that one, and rightly so, as you don't see your car on the road every day. Yep, even though it was a classic day at Sharnbrook there were plenty of modern super cars, 2 brand new lambos got alot of attention and they left when I did so doubt I will get any sort of shot like you did, in fact I can't find many pics of this weekend, ah well :noidea:

Chiltern Hills rally

Loved getting out today and meeting people and seeing other cars......

Had to drive through lots of hay the organisers had put down on the entrance to the show field , so got lots on my tyres, looks a bit like a barn find!

Car shows

Hi, Yes I use http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/ for events.

However only look at attending ones that are within striking distance from me and on Sundays only (Best day for me), may be the same for others too. Can't help to make a list though for people to be aware of.....

1/ Ragley Hall - 28th May
2/ Classics at the Crick - 11th June
3/ Trentham gardens - 18th June (Possibly for me)
4/ Kimbolton Car show - 9th July
5/ Beaumanor hall - 30th July

Cheers.

Good point!, front plate is in boot and the road legal rear plate is actually still under the new rear plate, you can just see the edge of the chrome trim on one of the more side on pictures, 2 screws on each hold them in place so an easy quick swap!!! :icon_lol:

Thanks for the comments we were very lucky to connect with the chap with the real Ferrari and also for the weather to hold out for the shoot! :hail::thumb:

Hi, His colour is slightly lighter and he wanted a darker silver, cost option can you believe its was north of £10k for that! so rightly so he went with standard silver. Also the blus stripe was darker on his car than he would have liked. It was painted in the factory. It was a homage to the #14 1961 Le Man Class winning 250 GT SWB, which mine is too!
