How has anyone fixed the bumpers in place, weld or bolted in?Cheers

We've not fixed them in place yet, but I think we will go with bolts. The spot light bracket bolts go through where the bumpers slide into the chassis. They will be able to double up for bumper mounting.

Our Marlin supplied tank didn't have any holes, we did that ourselves:

Needed a load of gasket sealer to stop it leaking. Nice and solid now though! :) Some of the other builder have used much more elegant solutions. Have a look through some of the other build sites :)

Our thoughts on bolt vs weld is that the bumpers primary function is as a collapsible element should you have an accident. If its only bolted then the theory goes the bolt snaps and bumper is pushed into the chassis absorbing some of the impact energy.

If you weld it its much more solid so more energy is transferred in the rest of chassis causing more damage.

That is my uneducated theory though.

Thanks guys, I had been thinking about crash impact earlier and had thought along the same lines;bolts it is!
