I'm in the same boat as Robin - as I've given up and am getting someone else to finish mine they're making fast progress and I'm lacking some of those little touches, lights, seats, harnesses, etc etc
I know we've had these questions before but any recommendations on seats, lights that fit and look good? What about harnesses to reach all the way to the back of the marlin?
And has anyone passed SVA yet with the belts going through the seat holes and without the marlin extra "seatbelt bar" ?

I bought some Sparco 3 points which are fine lengthwise, not sure if they will pass SVA with Cobra Roadster 7 harness holes, i hope so! They are higher up than the seatbelt bar would be: http://www.msportster.co.uk/detail.asp?cat=7&offset=324

Dont think i can make it to Donnington, will have to see :)

Already got the marlin lights and dash pack - gonna get different front indicators - I'm going for aero screens eventually (post SVA!) so round screens, round headlights and square flashers? hmmmmm. Also looking to try and get some flashier rear lights - LED would be nice... I liked the look of the ones on the back of the MK Indy in Mays WKC - hella aftermarket units apparently. Also found a site the other day that did lots of LED truck lights! forgot to bookmark it though...

hopefully my engine will be fired up tomorrow for the first time...

Heres another question - has anyone fitted "sliding" seats ? t'other half only has little legs so the seat will need to be adjustable...
ps sparco harnesses now being watched on ebay!
31 Aug 2006, 10:06pm
mine have sliding runners, dont think there will be much movement, but can't be sure until they are ready to go in properly!

Question for Patrick...

Did you buy the "seatbelt bar" seperatly from Marlin? I have not seen it mentioned in any of their price lists.

Also for those of you with Marlin sourced intruments - do you know what make they are? I don't intend to buy mine from Marlin as I want a different combination to what they supply.

Cheers

no i havn't bought the seat belt bar. I have got a rear strut brace (not stunning, but cheap) that I got from eBay.

Some one did mention a while back the marlin sell a seatbelt bar. If its anything like the bar thats shown on the "instruction cd" then it will just collapse in an accident.

As for instruments, some of the marlin ones are smiths, mine are from Carbont Automotive Ltd (CAI)

Hey Patrick - does the strut brace have any makers info on it - I think I would like to get one the same as it looks bit more business like than the Marlin effort which I guess is just playing lip service to the SVA requirement for seatbelt heights.

I've had a look on eBay but it doesn't look like they are listed anymore. I had to get one of the attachments re-welded as it was wrong - just small example of the quality of work!

You could get an E30 one if its adjustable, the tops of the towers are slightly futher apart on the Sportster.

Quick Question - is the stuff at shows cheaper? I guess postage isn't an issue but wondered if the prices are cut as well?
7 Sep 2006, 8:15pm
cheaper parts

Hi Andy, I visit 3 shows per year and always find goods much cheaper from most of the exhibitors, and a small bit of bartering can furthur help!
8 Sep 2006, 11:58am

Hello Jeremy

I plan to be there at about 10:00 on Saturday. I am happy to meet up if you want to. I guess the Marlin Owners Club stand would be a good place (assuming they are there of course)
