Hi folks I have been offered an unfinished Vortex GT.
I think it must be a Vortex GT as it has a Ford engine and donor parts with it.
Would this kit pass IVA these days? I believe it should not be an issue. To avoid a Q I need the V5 from the car the engine and box came from and I guess the original kit receipt?
I want to make sure I get everything I need... I have the list of kit parts from the vortex website.
You won't have an issue passing the IVA, the company is still going so can help you out with the original receipt. If the engine hasn't come with a V5 you might be best to either try and buy a very cheap ST220 for the V5 or talk to someone who's breaking one and see if you can come to an arrangement, this is important for emissions too so that they'll apply the emissions rules from the donor car not what they would be today.

Some of the donor parts are a little tricky to find now as they're a bit old!
Mazda MX3 rear lights
Toyota Celica Door glass and regulators - Off the one that had the pop up headlamps but was the curvy shape not the wedge, can't remember the year.
Rover 800 brake servo
Rover 800 wiper motor and linkage
Rover 800 front door hinges
Rover 800 rear door check straps
Rover 800 door latch (Think MGF works too)
How complete is the kit you've been offered? Is there the hubs, body, windscreen etc..?
Bits, there are lots of bits, from assorted cars spread throughout the whole house.
From your list:
Mazda MX3 rear lights - Yes
Toyota Celica Door glass and regulators - Theres some door glass, looks the right same and regulators fitted to doors
Rover 800 brake servo - there was a servo fitted up
Rover 800 wiper motor and linkage - linkage fitted up
Rover 800 front door hinges - doors are fitted so assume so

Is there the hubs, body, windscreen etc..? - yes its sat on all 4 wheels body and engine mounted with brakes plumbed. I found front, rear and quarter glass, i think all the interior mouldings.
Looks like it might be a go-er then. I will need to take it apart as with 10+ years outside the chassis has suffered and the car filled up like a bathtub (luckily nothing but wiring spaghetti inside). Chassis may need blasting and powdercoat or something.
There were no brake discs. I assume Rover 800?
I've dropped Vortex an email via their website to see about copy of receipt and VIN number assignment. Theres no documentation for anything so it sounds like I will have to source a Mondeo.
Perhaps I could get a cheaper lesser engined mondeo and put that in for IVA and swap the 3.0 in at a later date. I have no idea if mounts or driveshafts will match up though.
I'm assuming the 3.0 is good, the boot lid obviously has vents in and water has permeated.
