I have got to the point where I need to get some seats pretty soon. I would be intersted in what other builders have used and what they would recommend.
My initial thoughts are for a traditional low back set with the option of a headrest. Richfield seem to do a good range but can be expensive. Some of the "Cobra" type seats look good as well.
I've got Cobra Roadster 7's that were custom covered at the factory with the vinyl supplied by Marlin to match the rest of the interior. They've got very good side hold and I still fit into them They've also got harness holes which Im hoping will be suitable for SVA. Havent got the cobra logo in the head rest as they look classier without.
Will see what they are like on the road combine with 3 point sparco harnesses.
As Im a little on the large side, seating is a difficult area as most bucket style seats are too narrow for me ( including unfortunately roadster sevens). I tried several seats at stoneleigh and for me it came to a choice between cobra ss (very comfy) and richfield rx1100 (good thigh support). The only thing against the cobra is no headrest available and I have now acquired a pair of unused but dusty richfields at a very good price. They fit perfectly and look good ( I have polished them up!),so they'll do for now.
When Paul came by with Millie Marlin he had Z3 seats in there - he got them from a scrappy for a very good price. They were very comfy and looked great but didnt have the side hold you would get some seats like the Cobra
Just searched the forums and found this thread - I was watching a pair of Cobra Monaco s on ebay but have been advised that they're too wide.
Can anyone comment on how wide the front of the seat can be befoe it's too big? My marlin is being finished by vindicator so I can't measure it!!
Also are people going cloth, vinyl or leather? ,my thoughts are for vinyl cos I'm not going for any weather gear and so if they do get wet it's less of a problem...
cheers - before the weekend if poss (cheeky but will help when I'm shopping at donington!)
Also found these http://www.midlandwheels.com/ko-kat/Seats/Mws/Club - might go fot them if them fit on the simple premise that they're close enough for me to collect and save on postage and I'll "save up" for nicer ones that match in colour later - starting to run out of funds!
I think I might go for Richfield seeats - possibly the RX1155 if it will fit - and in leather if I can afford it. The Richfield seats are made in the UK and have proper steel frames unlike a lot of the cheaper seats that are just an uphostered fibreglass shell

No problem, I'll trying and get out in the garage tomorrow and let you know!
I know I'm being a pain, but could you measure the gap across the cockpit at the front when the seat is as far forwards as it will go? It looks like it would be far enough forward for my vertically challenged wife!
