I'm Nick from Essex. I'm in the back end of designing my own rebody car. Another month or so and the designs will be complete and the actual body build can begin along with lots of shouting and swearing "But the bloody thing fitted on the plans!".
I'm hoping to have a finished car to display at Stoneleigh 2020 but as we know these thing invariably take much longer than we expect.
Once I have a decent portfolio of photos for a build diary in a few months I'll start one here so you can all see the progression.
Hi Paul, thanks for the welcome and the info! Any help is always greatly appreciated.
The body will end up being fibreglass. I'm working on both a fixed hard top and electric hard top convertible, but I may ditch the fixed hard top version depending on how the 3D printed models come out, until I have those in my hand and can really get a proper look at the dimensions I wont know if the design "works" or not from an aesthetics point of view. It's amazing how something looks right on a screen and looks dumpy or wrong when in physical form.
My biggest problems at the moment is weather sealing for lights and the glass for the side windows needs altering, for the moment I'll be using shaped Lexan until I have the exact dimensions then see how much actual glass would be to have made up.
