Went to move the 250 and the battery was flat, on inspecting the battery I found the space it is kept in full to the brim with water.
The boot board which covers the boot floor was damp but not wringing wet, the boot aperture has a seal all the way around and it doesn't seem to be getting in that way.
I was wondering if it could be getting in where the new rear clam sits on the rear lip as it is not sealed or could it be coming in where the hood meets the rear bodywork.
Anyone else suffered from a similar problem?
I spent a happy hour yesterday mopping out the well behind the nearside rear wheel and not for the first time. A few weeks ago I sealed all round the boot lid gutter and put in the full length drain pipes on each side so I'm fairly sure it doesn't come from there. I have now used the WCA approach and put some holes in the rubber bung.
I suspect the hood/body line but I don't know where that drains to. I do get a lot of condensation on the underside of the boot lid.
Whilst I was sitting inside the car yesterday mopping the condensation off the back window and wringing out the towel that collects it, the hood join above the quarterlight started dripping onto the passenger seat. Investigation showed that the drains in the rubber seal that runs down the side of the windscreen frame were blocked. Rodding through with wire sorted that.
I've ordered a small dehumidifier to try to keep the cabin dry.
I get a lot of condensation on the rear window and I suspect this is where the water is coming from.
I bought a small dehumidifier that works well. If you are going to buy one make sure that it is mains and contains a refrigerant, otherwise they are useless. I picked mine up on flea bay for £40.
My Z3 is prone to leak at the front of the hood (after fixing the join at the base of the windscreen with suitable sealant). I too get condensation on the rear window, but suspect that is due to it facing east, and getting the first heat of the day to stir up any moisture in the cabin. Also the rear is raised slightly when the car is parked.
It hasn't leaked since I opened and closed the hood a couple of times. If only we had Audis and all that four spring duck technique.
Gummi Pfledge will keep the seals supple and is a routine maintenance issue. For emergencies- silicone grease will keep water at bay.
Thanks Iain, hopefully, now that we are reaching the end of the rainy season, Chris will get the zagato sorted during the sunny month and I won't need it. 🙈
