Z3 bargaining tool

31 Mar 2017, 5:32pm
For those who don't buy or sell cars often there is a good tool available to help you when buying. Go to gov.uk/check-mot-history and type in the reg number and vehicle make.
It will list the last 5 or 6 years of MOT's , pass or fail for each test. It will list any fail points but also all the advisories.
You might find a car with current MOT for several months, do a check and see if the seller has mentioned any advisories.
If not you have a very good bargaining point as you can bet they will need doing next MOT time.
There are lots of Z3's out there , many have long lists of advisories which might turn you off all together or give you good reason to get the price down.

Good luck !

This is very true with advisories and their history. Things like tyres and suspension struts . I had to replace 3tyres and rear brake cylinders on my daily runner all of which were on previous MOTs . Saved a bundle too. Knock off £50 a tyre specially if the car has sat for a while too. A little homework goes a long way

Kerbed alloys can be worth a discount of £40-50 each as well.

And a new rear window for £100.
