Exhaust

Well I got the first quote for an exhaust today £1700 - £2000 and they would need the car for 10 days!! I'm going to carry on looking...

All of a sudden the Marlin side pipes don't look that expensive... ;)

Indeed! But I am wondering if this was a "we really dont want your business" quote. We shall see what other places have to say for themselves.

Exhaust

Hi Patrick

Do you really want the side pipes? (OK they do look cool) The system I have come up with uses standard components (albeit from a TR6) and bits of straight pipe.

My previous Marlin had a side exhaust - looked and sounded good but that noise in your ear cannot be good on long journeys (pardon?) :ear:

What ? I cant hear you :lol: :biggrin1: Yeah I pretty much would like a side pipe - I can alway put a plug in my ear for long trips! :heh:

That all does depend on the cost in the end, I need to have chat with some else tomorrow and see what they think.

As you all know I have the Marlin side pipes and ill be honest I havent driven the car yet but they dont sound that loud at all.
I will confirm more next week as my SVA is on Tuesday morning so I get to have some fun on the journey.
I have also noticed that you have fitted an airbox down on the passenger side of the engine looking at your pictures it looks like the Marlin twin exhaust system would be a very tight fit against this. I will see if i can get some better pics of there exhaust layout for you and post them.

Yeah I did notice those Marlin pipes were exactly where I have my intake. My side pipe plan would involve the pipes only coming out of one side so it would avoid that. I'd be quite interested to see how the Marlin pipes route around the engine bay to the other side.

I tried powerflow in Southampton today - they dont do manifolds. Tried a custom chrome dealer too but there werent at home! Right got a race place to call tomorrow then I will try custom chrome directly. Jon on the marlin owners club forum does CAD design - custom chrome will take a 3d CAD design and build an exhaust from it so thats my backup plan.

£1500 estimate from Simspons race exhausts... a little better but still more than I want to pay!

Now im getting somewhere! The local custom chrome dealer has said between £450 and £500 :) Need to get a few things confirmed but its sounding good so far :)
