I disconnected the pipe from the valve when I removed the tail box. I inserted a bolt and some sealant and fastened it securely under the car somewhere. Had no effect on the running on mine.

Same here, all it does is open the valve under acceleration to make a more pleasant noise. I expect most of them have seized up anyway.

Hayward and Scott just cut off and sealed on mine I believe.

Heck of a weight saving losing that back silencer - it weighs a ton!

Didn't BMW fit lead mats to the boots of the 3 series at one point because the rear was too light for the suspension set up (vague memories from the '90s so might be wrong) so as the Z3 uses the same old suspension perhaps this was deliberate

Hi mate - lots of domestic issues to deal with - mum has advanced alzheimer's and every weekend I'm splitting care with brothers. So only change on car has been having the exhaust done. Beautiful job and sounds marvelous. Lots of pops on over run and the tone at 3k rpm upwards has meant I've spent more money on petrol than I should holding onto gears!

Andy Sharrocks coupes has ended up local to me and is coming along to our local monthly meet.
