Id take a nearly finished mx250 in part ex but you would have to sell the beans and pay the rest cash! I wouldnt mind building another mx250!

Nope had a few offeres for a few part exs but people want top money for theirs.

Had 1 guy offer me £5k and his S class that he said was worth £5k. He gave me all the details of his car and I found 1 the exact same spec etc etc on autotrader for £3k so I sent him the link and said it was only worth £3k. He replied with a link for a similar car advertised on pistonheads at £5k and assured me his was worth the same! He couldnt get his head round the fact that if you can buy a car exactly the same for £3k then his cant possibly be worth more!

Anyway, I cant re-advertise the car yet because the ebay app on my iphone doesnt support car listings for some unknown reason! I will try later on a laptop.

The valuation of cars on ebay is educational. Look at how many z3s are asking for over £4k when there are others at a little over £2.5k similar mileage and condition. Also how many get re-listed. Auction prices are even lower. But there is a market for cobras and so pricing can be established. Yours is not out of kilter.

Yeah, at the end of the day a car is valued on what someone is prepared to pay for it? Z3 prices have increased this month as the good weather comes in. They will be cheapest again december/january time.

Might send it to auction when I know Im going to be home. Currently offshore for the next few weeks.

I noticed back in the spring , April May time Z3's were really cheap. Probably because everyone waits till spring to sell but they flood the market with so many available. Back in the new year there weren't many for sale and they were selling at quite high prices.

Thanks for that bit of information. I am hoping to buy in the autumn, but as i really didn't start watching the market until the end of May, I have no idea of the annual price pattern. If I don't act then, I know to wait until around April again. if I have the patience.

I plan to retire around the end of May. Mrs Barber doesn't know why I am so keen to build a big pallet shed at the bottom of the garden to replace the rotting edifice that is there now. It is to accommodate all the stuff in the garage (we just downsized and the garage was the overflow reservoir). Obviously, the garage is to become a workshop and as it has a small car port in front, could turn out very useful.

By way of keeping this slightly on topic, I still plan to have Kobra back end and a SWB front with the option of a Z3 hard top as well as the soft top for round the year use.

JaguarTVR is an out and out soft topper, and insists that I don't need the hard top. But he isn't as old as me.

The older you get the harder it becomes to to remove and refit a hardtop!
I've owned soft tops for 35 years and have never had one vandalised or damaged, the worst that ever happened was some stitching came off a section of a BMW E30, £200 for a second hand replacement. Hard tops also need a lot of storage room which is always a problem if you are a hoarder like me.

We have just gone through the de-hoarding process, and I have seen those roof hoists. The chances are that the donor will not come with a hard top, so I'll have a chance to test your assertions for myself. Before committing, so we will see if it works for me
