Would I get away with these mounted on the side of the front wheel arches as side repeaters?

I've seen a few problems with regards to positioning

They would seem to meet both the positioning and visibility requirements as outlined in the manual but your best bet is to call your local IVA station and ask them I would think.

That is where I put them on my Cabrio and it passed IVA. Not 100% sure if its OK on cycle wings as the view changes as you apply lock. I would be inclined to fit them just in front of the doors.

Looking at Phil's link to the IVA manual you repeater needs to be visible when viewed from an angle behind the vehicle of 5 degrees. With any significant lock on then it will not be visible.

As long as they are fitted within 2600mm from the front of the vehicle and are visible as per diagram they would probably be better fitted to the bodywork.

They won't work on the body work as the rear arches will obscure the view, will look into it in that case any pics of cats that have passed would be useful!

That's exactly where mine is. And, as I remember, Peter, Jason and Patrick, that were all building at arround the same time, did the same.

My understanding is that the 'usual' position on a Sportster on the side of the scuttle, that was OK for the SVA, is no longer compliant to the new diagrams in the current IVA manual.
Ian Morris had to put his side repeaters on the side of the rear wing towards the front.

If you look closely in his picture you can see it on the rear wing (and the other hole which was where it was when it failed).

yep, Peter's right. I had mine on the top of the rear wing and in the normal place on the scuttle. It failed because the ones on the scuttle were obscured by the rear wing and the one on the top of the rear wing was too far from the front of the vehicle. I also failed for having two per side where as it must be one and one only. Both my examiners recommended mounting them on the front wing as you originally suggested to be on the safe side though I did get by the second time by putting them in the location shown on the photo Peter posted. If you mount them on the outside top of the front wing, they will be visible even on lock though they shouldn't test it like that. Trouble is they make the rules up as they go.

After a bit more research all the 7 style car builders mount them on the cycle wings, and remembering back my old gbs zero that's where I put them. I don't want to drill holes in the cycle wings though so I think some stick on LED ones will do for now! Cheers for the help
