Just wondering if there's any financial benefit in going to either Nubodi or tribute for supply & fit Kalifornia kit with all fittings up to pre-paint stage. basically drive in drive out.
I guess in theory they should be the same?
I'm ready for a new toy now the TVR's gone and I can't get the thought of a slammed resto-mod version of one of these out of my head. No wire wheels here, lol! think Lotus Storm Titanium metallic with mahoosive black split rims (possibly polished lips - need to photoshop) and on the deck - thinking air ride potentially (aircups rather than bags).
Chris and Dan at Tribute did exactly that with my Z300S Build. I drove in my Z3 with a box of lights, number plate setup and a boot lock and collected it a few weeks later. As I had neither the time nor the space to do it myself, it was a very cost-effective solution. You can see all the work I did do on my build thread.
Having seen the 250 SWB Convertible at Stoneleigh- I asked Chris for a price to do similar, bearing in mind the door skins are added as well - so not expecting the same cost as the Z300S.
I dropped in to see him last week on my way past and the place is stacked out with Fezza replicas!!!

Nubodi may have shorter lead times? Depends how quick you want it. I can't comment on the relative quality of finish and I guess it depends on what you mean by getting to the 'pre-paint' stage.
I would talk to both of them, very approachable guys - but dont bump me down the build list at Tribute :-)
Andy you are a bad man! I knew that colour would look good - might challenge you to shop it with a some different wheels tho. Gonna have a look through the online alloy shops tonight - possibly loose the polished lip altogether and go satin black multi spokes. This could definitely be a go-er...
Already emailed Nubodi - it's very early days I have to take a long hard look at how budget will stack up to make sure there's spare for everything I'd like

Haha!
Glad you like, send me a link to the wheel images and Ill have a go for ya.
Got the details back from Nubodi yesterday and the cost for drive in, drive out metallic painted with lights and external hardware fitted (supplied by me - cost included) the total cost is just shy of 8 grand (£7775)
Breaks down as All lights, handles and external hardware (self supply) £730, Kit £2950, Strip & Fitting £2300, Rebate for salvaged parts CREDIT £400, Paint £1695, Refiting post paint £500
That excludes wheels, exhaust, black and silver plates, and any interior mods such as steering wheel and seats etc. and obviously cost of donor.
So probably £11k all in for 2.8? And still external boot hinges which I hate so more cost there.
I need to rethink how I go about this if at all.....hmmm
Nah long way from giving up! Next step I think is to see demonstrator in the flesh to make sure it feels right for me then the budget jiggery pokery starts!
As someone has asked the benefits of Tribute or Nubodi I thought I would clarify this. We at Nubodi obviously work closely with Chris almost on a daily basis. The reason for our existence to was originally to take some pressure off Chris as he gets busier and to show customers a finished article to a high standard. Chris has indicated he wants to handle just the GRP manufacture and development of new kits in the future. Now we have proven ourselves to tribute (as many had failed to do in the past) we are heading towards handling all the sales and builds of the Tribute range. We have an verbal agreement with Chris that we charge the same price for each type of kit. However we can add benefits.
1. 7 days a week technical back-up (9.00am to 9.00pm).
2. Finished demonstrators you can view and drive.
3. Delivery of £1 a mile up to 200 miles from Berkshire.
4. Build 800 photo guide.
5. Kobra kits always in STOCK for immediate collection.
6. Shorter distance to collect your kit (probably).
7. Usually attend at all kit car events.
8. Build services of each stage from donor striping to paintwork or turn-key cars.
We currently have a drivable finished demonstrator for the Kobra, 250SWB and Z300s models.
Andy that's exactly it - really helps the shallow offset and suggests something deeper which is what I was hoping for. Bloody love it! Although they look like they could carry off a bright colour. Hmmm....
Gonna go and see the demonstrator and get real about what is possible and what's happy dreaming!

You should! I'm rubbish at wheels and stuff on photoshop but I can use the adjust image hue lol! So had a go at putting colour back on with those wheels.
Red and Giallo Fly Yellow - quite surprised at how well the yellow looks.
Just spoke to Nubodi and off to see the demonstrator on Sunday!
