My lack of forum activity over the past few weeks has been down to many reasons, both business and personal, but now back on Stoneleigh Show preparations all be it way behind schedule.
Four 250SWB kits have now left the workshop, Bob's (Hurnleft) + Gaz Davies + 2x to our Dutch trade rep Rob. Geoff decided he would prefer blue gelcoat over the black of the first kit produced (hence the delay in his build, thanks again for your patience Geoff), so the spare black panels are being fitted to the original "buck" Z3 for an appearance at Stoneleigh followed by it's sale to bring in some return on the lenghty development.

Here's where we were with the build on Thursday:





The interior needs a little work

Friday. A splash of satin black for interior and inner fitting panels installed









Saturday. Front/rear panels and some lights installed

I still can't believe the transformation from Z3 to SWB, what a difference a few panels and a couple of days' (hard) work can achieve.

Keep up the good work, once I've got my finances sorted (soon I hope) you will be getting another firm order.

Did you ever lower your own car the grey one which became red, and what size is the rear number plate, I need to get my plates made as the ref transfer runs out soon.

Thanks Bill, didn't want to get into anymore development really but needs must.

The car above IS the original grey car that was paint red for moulding, I have the coilover kit to lower it and hope to get it done pre-Stoneleigh.

Rear plate is standard 12" x 8.5".

The kit does do a great job of hiding the Z3 origins.

Now we have the SWB moulds back under our control and a few teething problems ironed out the stress levels should go down somewhat.

I will take this car to Stoneleigh, allthough with a different set of wirewheels as these rears have a too huge offset with the 255 tyres (they are PERFECT under the Cobra where they are now on.....)

yes, I know, it needs a proper paint job and my other 250SWB (an M-roadster 3.2) is in process of getting professionally sprayed in high gloss black!

Love the stealth black.

There was a Mercedes S63 Twin Turbo in stealth black at the gym today which looked suitably menacing at the gym today. funny enough there was also an Italian registered FF in a strange matt red colour which didn't look good at all.

I just noticed on this picture that the rubber windscreen surround has been removed. Is this necessary/intended?

I ask as I had a quick trial fit of the body on Sunday night and noticed that I couldn't get the front to sit on the car properly with either the windscreen sides wanting to sit in place the way that they should. Im now thinking that the rubber surround may have been holding the top up a few mil and preventing the whole thing from sliding into place?

Thats correct, you need to take the rubber off...only the top part though

Yes Gaz pull out the rubber, those few mm make all the difference. Your side window seal is here, are you going to Stoneleigh?

How much do I not want to sell this car? But needs must.

The car is looking good. The big modern wheels give it a slightly more classic fastback muscle car look which works surprisingly well.

Flipping hells bells thats looking nice...........

Chris, What will you be doing reguarding the interior on this SWB? And have you got a price in mind for selling it?

My word that's looking so good, I even like the five spoke split-rims! Will it be in paint for Stoneleigh?

I want that exhaust set up to replace my side pipes!

Looking good, think I'll hang on to my other Z3, even if I can't afford to do another kit reckon the value of decent Z3's will go up.
