Hi want to buy part finished kit car ive looked at, 2l pinto. It has no donar documents,do you think it will pass iva emissions if i fit a cat plus silencer Cheers Dave

I believe the emissions are based on the age of the engine but I suspect that would be a minor issue compared with some of the hoops you would need to jump through to pass an IVA with an older kit.

Cheers mate,I know emission levels are down to engine age much higher than current readings,but withoutproof(log book) it will be judged on current levels,I thought if i fit silencer/cat would this overcome problem for IVA.or would i need to make other changes Cheers Dave

All you need is the engine number then contact Ford, they should be able to confirm officially what the engine age is. I would't have though it would be possible to get a Pinto down to current emission levels without throwing a bucket of money at it. That's why they dropped these old engines.
