anyone found any good chrome shiny bits to trim the car with inside or out
I am looking for a chrome window trim for the rear if I can buy one not the crappy plastic infill strip but a wide trim same width of the rubber
There are plastic chrome strips in Halfords that appear to be lasting quite well on mine. I think they come in 6, 8 and 10mm and cost about £10 for 5m. Not sure if they are wide enough for your windows but possibly worth a punt
Andy S, would I be right in thinking that you're asking if there's anything suitable to put round the rear window to make it look like a classic rubber seal with integral chrome trim?
If so, my plan for my (future project) 250SWB is to source something similar to what WCA's put round his grille and rear lights, and stick it over the middle of the dark outer edges of the Z3's front 'screen, thus disguising its modern origins.
It should also work on the back 'screen. The beauty of that is that it's cheap, simple to apply as it's self adhesive, and if it looks shite it can just be peeled off.

I understand what you mean about "cheap crappy" stuff, but have to agree with WCA here, some of it if applied correctly and tastefully can look quite good. I've seen WCA's car, and the strip looks okay.
This type of stuff comes in sizes of 6 7 8 9 10 12 20 21 and 35mm widths, and usually is 3 metres long. I bought some for my van and was pleased with it.

Like Mr Towed said, its cheap as chips and if you don't like it chuck it away, worth a try at that price though.
yep that's the one I looked at but will it go around the corners on the window the corners are a bit on the tight side. if there is one part of the car I am not so happy about the back window rubber fits crap. but I do not want to mess with it as it dose not leak.
How about a visit to your local friendly scrappy, see if there are any cars present that have the sort of trim you're after, especially the corner sections and modify to fit your car.
By that I mean as long as the corner sections are right then it should be fairly straight forward to cut the straight sections to fit. Re-weld, grind, polish and re chrome.
A heat gun works wonders on the stuff just don't hold it too long or the silver foil flakes off.
I found heating it, bending it, holding it in place, heating it, bending it, holding it in place, heating it, bending it, holding it in place, heating it, bending it, holding it in place, etc allowed you to get quite tight corners. I can't find a picture but I had it trimming my rear numberplate before I fitted the black and silver one.
If you look at the bottom of the ring around the tail light you can see where the strip has tried to unbend a bit. I have just gone outside to look at it and it is no worse now than it was at Stoneliegh last year.
That suggests to me that I probably didn't get it stuck properly in the first place.
