Hello peeps, how things hope your all enjoying the long days so you can spend more time in the garage
A question for you all. Boot fitting on the mx, when I put the panel in the locking mechanism locks but refuses to open when the panel sits flush. When I put a seal around the edge it raises the panel but the boot release now works! And it lifts the boot panel so that it doesn't fit flush which makes the car look horrid. I've tried dropping the mechanism and raising it but still can't get it to release when the panel is sitting flush with the rest of the body. Any clues
If your boot release works with the panel raised but not when it is flush. It sounds like the boot lid is binding on the body. A few picture of hinges and release would help ?

I'll try and get pics on peepsy
The boot lid sits flat without the seal in place and locks but won't release. With the seal in place the boot also locks but will release. Its fitted with mini boot hinges. Its as if it needs pressure against the lid to make the mechanism release
You have answered you own question. The mazda hinges have springs to pop the boot. You need something like a spring to lift the boot enough for the lock to disengage. With regard to the seal. The boot lid is almost as deep as the recess for it. some have remade the lip on the body like seanick. Others have fitted a very flat u shape rubber. Good luck.
