The Ribble Register

26 Mar 2013, 3:47pm
Gents,

It has been a long standing joke on this forum that we are exclusively members of the 'Sammio Not a Club'.

Well the time has come to change that. After some discussion today, Gaz and I have resolved to initiate the Ribble Register. Effectively a club with NO politics, NO committee, NO Meetings (apart from an informal get together at shows), NO rules but a common interest in the Ribble car marques (Incorporating the Sammio Spyder, Cordite and G-46). Your club membership is implicit in the ownership of one of these cars and your number is the build number of that car.

Why? you may ask. Well the only reason is to take the benefits of 'belonging' to a club for insurance purposes (Who can sneeze at 10% off?) and to have a Club area at shows at which we can join together and have a beer or two in good company.

We have also decided on the strategy for shows and events. If we were to 'show' at one of the big events, we would have to pass on the cost of attendance (and it isn't a cheap thing to do) on to the customer, increasing the cost of kits, which we are reluctant to do. We will attend as many events as we can. set up a club area, invite all comers to bring their cars and join us in the fun. (This, of course means that we won't be 'trading'per se but if someone likes what they see we will obviously enjoy the contact after the show.)

First 'meet' will be at Stoneleigh and we sincerely hope to see as many there as possible. First beer will be on me

Nice! how did the mould turn out after primer?

Still in work as I put a bit more filler on where I noticed an old wound. Should be priming tomorrow.

Ok so I've got a Sammio 550 what's my membership number? :)

Not a lot of those about! Anyone can pick their own number if they choose. The point is that not having the infrastructure of a traditional 'club' you don't really need a number except for your own amusement.

ooooh someone with a 550! don't suppose you'd fancy having a mould of your dash taking?
26 Mar 2013, 7:47pm
Don't think that would be a problem but will have to do some prep work on it first. :)

As an ex-Sammio builder/owner can I get an honory minus number? :)
26 Mar 2013, 9:45pm
Dave, as an ex-sammio owner you can still have a number, just start it with a Q. Any chance of you getting the Lambo to Stoneleigh?

That's interesting in itself, was it turned out by Gary J or whoever he sold the moulds to? And what's the build state, is it a finished car yet?

Would love to see some pictures...

Hi Mister towed I bought the body and frame from Gary before he sold the moulds. The car rolls around but is far from finished :) I will try and sort some pictures.
